    That was from when I was 6 years old (1966) and Oregone only had one prefix.  
    I wonder who would answer if I were to call that number today?

    This was my number from 7 y/o to 13 y/o we lived in La Habra CA.  I remember I always had a dime on me so I could call home from a pay phone if I had to.

    I don't remember the year I was toldto remember the phone number.

    - but I do remember we had a phone on the wall.  You picked up the handset and listened to make sure nobody was talking, if nobody was talking you pushed the handset hook to the left and up.  That would give you a dial tone.

    Oh . . . and the phone was "way up there" on the wall.

    Count me in.  Can't give it out as family still lives there and uses the same number that the address has had from 1939 when my grandfather bought the house.  Of course with the addition of some numbers.

    Yep, they did away with the party line, so now we have to use the internet. Phone number came right back after years of not using it.

    my mom and dad passed many years ago but one of my sisters still keep the phone number active and pays the monthly charge . so many old friends and family have that number she keeps it going in case one wants to call mom and dad had the same number well forever it seemed like  so its easy to remember it 

       on the  same team as most of you ,  I cant remember what I ate for breakfast 

     I had a great uncle he was closing in on 90 when he passed I would visit him and his wife of over 60 years
     he would start taking to me about old hank / or fill in a name  then his wife would say you old dummy that was 30 years before Dave was born ..  he would grin a bit and say oh ya thats right  then finish his stories 
     I do miss the old couple RIP  I am turning into him

    Didn't have a phone until I was a sophomore in HS.  It was just 4 numbers.  When I went to college and needed to call home (collect, of course) I had to ask operator what the prefix was.
    Came home from college and stopped at the post office to get the mail.  Couldn't remember the combination, but when I started spinning the dial I got it right without remembering the numbers ;)
