Private Individual Shipping a Shotgun -
USPS 2 Day Priority to a FFL. Whatever local gun store my Son in Golden, CO. can locate that will agree to receive and do a Transfer.
Legal and no problems right?
I have a plethora of gun boxes and packing. Will probably put it in a cheap gunbox then inside the cardboard box. Advice welcome.
Thinking either a Bennelli Super Nova or a Winchester 1300 Defender. Both NIB.

good to go, just answer "no" to the questions. just a' thought'...............if you retain "ownership" of the shotgun you could send it directly to yourself 'in care of' your son for your 'use' when you visit him. 3 -

I know that's easier but not looking to get myself or my Son in a bind. Thoughts on this avenue?
I am going to make him pay for the shipping and insurance. Obviously the Tranfer fee, will be on him. Beyond that, an early bequethed gift from my collection.

Yes, but from what I read on that link us55840, it must go through the Transfer process at an FFL.

I would take the gun down into two pieces and wrap it up in heavy brown paper or bubble wrap and stuff the box full of packing. When I pack a long gun you can turn the open box on end and shake and the gun will stay in place. And don't forget the brown liquid water based protective coating. 6 -
This is just my experience and others will have different experiences. All the Winchester pumps (including the 1300) I've dealt with have ran fine. The only Bennelli Nova I have dealt with not only didn't run fine it was dangerous. I'm sure the nova could have been fixed, but it was NIB. 0 -
When I've shipped to my son out of state or received a gun shipped from him I went through a local FFL. Maybe I didn't need to and the extra cost was wasted but I knew there wouldn't be any issues and took the better safe than sorry route. 0 -
Send your boy the Benelli, Ken, and send the 1300 to me. I'll put it in the safe and keep it safe for you! 0 -
you could borrow Ricci's van and take a road trip with buddy, give it to him in person, or meet halfway? might even get Ricci to go with ya, do him good to get away from the beach and eat some spam and tacos..... 0 -
Sounds like the Boy is going to get the Win. 1300 Defender Riot Pump.
I agree on the better safe than sorry route. God forbid he ever has to use it and end up in court.
I appreciate the input you Guy's.

IIRC the 1200//1300 series are one of the few repeating shotguns that will reliably feed the Aguila mini-shells.
Good on you for takin' care of your son, Ken, hopefully he won't need to use it other than on paper targets.0 -
Have a good stock of the mini shells, both in #4 buck and slugs. I have that understanding about the 1300 as well Neo.
Of course I was gonna give the Son some grief for waiting until the last second. (But) My intention (like Don and others here,) is to hook him up with what he needs. Just aggravates me.
I am sure he will appreciate the Old Man. 😉

That's just CRAZY talk.
Besides, they are coming in Nov. Or Dec. 😉
If I went back to CO. I'd probably just want to move back there. Lived in Denver 1980.

We could chip in for a bus ticket. Probably could only afford one way but anything to help. They would probably make Buddy buy a ticket. 0 -
Ricci, hillbille said I could borrow your van.
WTH happened?
Buddy Loves hanging his head out of the window.
(Probably like you.)
His jowls probably do not flap in the wind as much as yours though. 😉

Ought to toss in a handgun with that shotgun.
You got a couple spares floating around, don't you?

I think I would almost wait and just give it to them then, and then him and her could take their pick of what fits them best....KenK/84Bravo said:That's just CRAZY talk.

More difficult to ship/transfer a handgun or I would do a 2fer drobs.
He is freaking deadly with either one of my Browning Buckmarks. I have a Taurus 740 Slim, with his name on it. Have two. (7 shot .40cal.) Nice, Disirregardless (bwahahaha) of what others say. Mine is very reliable. Perfect ergonomics.
I hear you hillbille, he wants/needs something now though. 😮 He is paying for it. Does not want to wait. Way happy to get a "Free" gun. Sent him pics. He is very happy.

Apparently you have to be 'there' to receive it.MIKE WISKEY said:good to go, just answer "no" to the questions. just a' thought'...............if you retain "ownership" of the shotgun you could send it directly to yourself 'in care of' your son for your 'use' when you visit him.
