How do you go about getting an FFL license? it is getting harder to find someone to to complete a sale.One man passed away and my shooting range shut down. Who would i need to talk with

    Actually, you don't need to talk to anyone. Go online to the FFL website and request a package. The Feds send you a complete package with all the paperwork required to file for your FFL.
    Read all of the material on the website and in the packet VERY CAREFULLY after receipt.

    If you plan to obtain a Type 01 dealer license for the purposes of obtaining personal firearms you are finished before you start. Same for conducting business only at gun shows. You must have a fixed premises where you can conduct business and have your records inspected. 

    There are venders on line who will sell you a "packet" of information, but what you need is ATF Form 7, which you can get for free:

    As far as talking to someone, after submitting your application (assuming it wasn't rejected out of hand) an ATF compliance inspector will pay you a visit and discuss your actual business plans. Zoning, local business licenses and state permits, if needed, will all come into play. If you need a local business license and you can't obtain one, or a variance in writing (the ATF will check), you won't get an FFL.

    Get a C&R  license if it fits your needs.
    Pretty much the same process.
    With a type 01 you should be in the business to make money, not enhance your collection.

    He’s asking about getting his FFL, but instead should just use the GB FFL finder and get on with building his collection.

    When he mentioned the two people that used to do transfers i took it as him wondering who else could do them. Hard to tell.

    yes that is true.I have had no luck finding someone to do the paper work that ithought it might be easier to get my own FFL  lic. I do check the GB listings but for the months of april,may and june could not get anyone .The were either closed or no longer in buisness. I will keep looking
