I visited the Florida Everglades for the first time in 1958 and this old song just brings chills when I listen to it. I love that part of the world.

Started Kayaking in about 1970 in Miami. Joined a Kayak club. We did many, many excursions into the Everglades. Fascinating Ecology.
Love the music. Huge fan of Cajun/Creole music. Bluegrass etc.

We crossed the top of the Everglades on Alligator Alley in 1986 headed for Key West. There were signs saying “Watch for panthers. Only 28 left”
Someone had marked out 28 and painted in 27. Sick joke.
Aways down the road a Florida state trooper lady waved us to stop. 86 mph in a 55 zone.
When asked how they clocked us, she said “Did you see an airplane pass over back there?”0 -
That sound like it would have been real fun taking a Kayak into the Everglades.
