EOTECH question

Does anyone here have experience or an opinion about the EOTECH 512?

    I have several of the Sig Romeo 5 sights and like them but am thinking about this EOTECH.

    I have one on a 16" pencil barreled AR and LOVE it.  I can make hits on a 12" steel plate at 300 yards easily with it, offhand.  
    For close up work it's tough to beat.  Put the big circle on your target and press the trigger.  Yer gonna get a hit.  
    The group below is one I shot off a concrete bench at 100 yards with a 512.  No wind that day.  The shots that were taped over were done freehand prior to settling in on the bench. 
    My only beef with it is that the control buttons are on the back.  Seems like it'd be much more convenient if they were on the left side.

    Nice.........thanks. The control location seems to be the detraction in the design. But how many times do you need to adjust that? 2 AA batteries is a plus since that is the most common battery in the world. I know the battery life is not like an Aimpoint, but realistically, it offers like 1000 hrs of continuous use..........seems like it would be sufficient for whatever situation.

    I put one on my AR-15 SP1, & it works great.  I don't usually like handle mounted scopes, but, at the time that I bought it, I didn't have a lot of alternatives.
    I never needed a repair, but it's worth noting that it's only warranted to the original purchaser.

    I have an EoTech XPS2 - this model uses a 123 lithium battery instead of AA’s but otherwise the XPS2 is very similar to the 512.

    Because the XPS2 uses a smaller battery, battery life suffers in exchange for a smaller overall package.

    The negative you will hear on Eotech is battery life. Since I’m not marching around Afghanistan getting into gunfights, this really isn’t an issue for me and batteries are just part of maintaining the gun.

    I run one on my DD V2 (M4 profile). It's been pounded hard under all sorts of conditions, works great, never had an issue. I chose it for reliability-they will take a beating-as well as the ready availability of AA batteries.

    Great sight. I have one Eotech now (XPS2-0) and one Trijicon ACOG right now but have sold quite a few of each. The Eotech is so fast and very dependable. The ACOG is great too but cost about twice as much. Inside a room there is no need to even turn the sight on. See the target on the "TV SCREEN" just press the trigger.
