Mom and Dads home everything lost

My sister and my Family's had to evacuate the Boulder Creek area. We found out the fate of our Family home of nearly 75 years from the news. My both of my brothers homes are still pending.

    ....My co. used to build back residential/commercial buildings after fires, water loss,, whatever, working with ins. companies...and a fire loss is probably the worst, material & emotion wise. Very hard to find anything left in a complete major fire loss...my heart goes out to them. I really hope they carried enough ins. to cover everything.

    ...A lot of people are way under  insured on their primary residence, sad but true....lots of folks  insured their homes YEARS ago, and the home has appreciated a LOT since, but they don't think about their ins. coverage.

    ...A major fire loss such as this is a VERY emotional experience...you need to go above and beyond with help, anyway possible...especially in the emotional area, even if they say theyre "ok".... :/

    So sorry. When I was little, many moon ago, my entire family would go camping in Big Basin, we always went to Boulder Creek and Ben Loman too. Such a beautiful place. Thankful your family is safe.

    I'm sorry Brother. I read this 1st thing this AM, but did not know what to say, or have words.

    My Son lives there in Golden.

    I am glad all made it out safe.

    A few years ago there were a bunch of fires started out there by arsonists. Is that what's going on now, or is there some other commonality with all the chaos?

    I can't even being to imagine. It would be easy to say if no loss of life everything else is potentially insured but that is clearly not a reality for memories and items that can't be replaced. Sorry to hear of this

    Months of no rain and then a "dry lightning" storm set off hundreds of fires.

    Didn't even know Santa Cruz was on fire. Salinas and back of Carmel Valley got a fire that was close to converging I wanna say Friday? I reckon that freak lightning storm got those fire started.

    Franc, I was just thinking about you down there. My niece and her family had to evacuate from Toro Park and the River Fire, it burned right up to their fence when they got out. Far as we know the house is still there. Big Basin is sad to see, that was a beautiful Park.
    Nephew in TX, just lost his Dad here in Vacaville a few months ago, and inherited his 40acres with a Barn House. Helicopter crew was using their pond for water, and did a "thank you" drop on the barn. It's still there but nothing else is. Burned all the surrounding ranch houses. Fire came through there so fast, many had to jump into swimming pools and stock ponds at 4am in their pajamas.
    People that lease his pasture lost all their equipment, house trailer, and 3 storage trailers with all their rodeo gear, but all the livestock survived. The mules led the saddle horses and cattle to a dirt area until the fire burn past it. Smart critters.
    This LNU Complex fire was at 325,000 acres late yesterday. I'm 15-18 miles as the crow flies from it, and had ash, like snow and burnt twigs all over my cars and house. Yesterday was the first day I've seen the sun in over a week! Watching those 747 tankers do drops is really impressive, those pilots fly em like fighter jets!
    We can thank dictator Newsom for the lack of fire fighters, the majority of those 18,000 prisoners he released, were the trustees that work with the CDF fire crews.
