Alone - 100 Days in the Arctic
Season finale on ch. 120 History right now.
Great show.

Are they actually alone and filming everything themselves, or do they have a camera/production crew onsite in an RV? I've found that most of the reality shows are staged and drama added for the excitement. The worst one is that bunch of idiots that supposedly live in the Alaska bush but go home at night in town. I think it's called Alaska Bush people, or something like that. 0 -
They are actually totally alone, self filming everything. They get periodic Medical Safety checks, that is their only contact with the outside. Quite a few have been pulled (against their wishes) for losing too much body weight.
A couple have realized that the amount of weight they have lost is life threatening, (organ shutdown, Heart problems etc.) and have tapped out.
Most are prior Spec Ops, (Recon Marine) Wilderness guides, Survival Instructors etc. This show is the real deal.

Some fascinating Structures have been constructed with considerable effort. True Woodcraft.
Survival techniques at their best. Fishing, trapping, rock hunting, knife hunting, etc. Using every scrap of useable material/resource.
Excellent show. I know a few here have been following it, and will weigh in.

There is a fantastic Joe rogan podcast about 3 hours long with this guy who walks across the arctic by himself towing his gear on a sled - 100% solo trek and it's a fascinating tale and a superb listen...

The guy who killed the musk ox won. 100 days and the last weeks at -30 degrees.
Tough people. That girl would have lasted if her toes wouldn't have been rotting off. Quite the shelters they built. Fascinating.0 -
They can choose 10 items to take with them. Of course most choose an axe, a saw, a gill net, trap wire, a pot, sleeping bag, a tarp, a flint & steel or similar firestarter, a knife, multi-tool, (That's 10 right there by the way.)

The two girls were some of my favorite contestants. Two seriously Tough Girls. Thought they would be there until the end. A couple of Survival Instructors. I knew when the one girl got frostbite on her toes, she was done. Was very surprised the other tapped out.
Roland, the Winner. Is a hardcore Primative Alaskan Hunting Guide. He earned it.
I would have made it maybe 20-30 days. Once it got to be "Winter," -27 -34° it was Serious sheeit.

Alone? Ya say ya wants ALONE? Go to your library, and see if they can find you a copy of Alone, by Admiral Richard Byrd. It is about how he spent the winter of 1934- by himself- at the South Pole. Alone. for 6 months. 0
