my one credit card died a couple of days ago, seven to ten days for new one. went to the bank today to transfer some money to the debit account, not happening, banks computer system is down for rest of the day. wonder how the beer store is going to react to me paying with a half ounce gold piece.

Cash will be worth toilet paper, when things crash.
Since it is somewhat fabric, it should work well. Too bad there is not a BHO bill to wipe your A $ $ on.
I know there is toilet paper designed for his face.

If U'S currency is worthless then the gig is up as far as I can tell. I don't use debt cards but I do have three credit cards which I do use for most everything and pay every month. I would HATE to pay interest on a credit card. Also keep a couple of grand in cash in a couple of different locations. I once was stranded on the Jersey Turnpike with $40.00 in my pocket, no credit card, and a busted truck, and it was snowing. I learned from that. 0 -
money is not so much the issue as is money availability. a large limit on the card always gave me a bit of security. may sound weird to some of you but being in the military and married in the early seventies taught me the value of having available money. think i will now get another card just for contingencies. 0 -

I am sure they will give you enough cash for a case or two of the finest beer.

Again. Cash is king.
There are many circumstances that make any card useless for purchases besides SHTF or a collapse of our currency system. In the recent past we had a windstorm that knocked out power and a lot communications. While some places were able to open using generators the data lines for card transactions remained down. It was somewhat surprising how many people had money in the bank, credit and debit cards in their pockets and couldn't buy gas, milk, or beer.0 -
