Ruger zytel stock guns have their own cult following nowadays and prices are pretty high on even beat up guns.
This one should go sky high. My guess is $2000-2500. Anyone else have a guess?

I THOUGHT at one time I have had all the boat paddles, BUT, guess not. Never ever seen one in 264. That has to go to the real serious collector. I punched it just cause. 3 -

Back when those were being made I thought that it was a practical hunting rifle. I didn't get one because rifles weren't legal to deer hunt with in Indiana and extra funds were tight. Like most anything else not being made any longer someone will start collecting them. 3 -

I figured anybody reading the description or familiar with this model would get the humorous insight into the auxiliary boat paddle feature designed into the stock and used as a selling feature and in advertising...
Never mind my mistake.
The caliber helps it as a ruger niche collectable but is one of the lowest production calibers offered for the model line if not the lowest over all - which would compare less favorably than say the common .308 to the average non niche buyer.
I hope it does well and salute to favor your doing.

Got a "boat paddle" you might not have. M1 Carbine. In 9mm Parabellum. Iver Johnson made 200 of them with pistol grip Zytel boat paddles. Ugly as a mud fence, shoots rather nice. And they can use Browning Hi-Power magazines. 3 -

Davidson's had these in sales fliers back in the day in odd configurations if I remember right - even gave some away...
There were several colors???
Black and grey and snow camo if I recall - the promised gumshoe pastels never showed up if I recall???

I suspect both of us felt that way.

It's low production and river has fanatical collectors but it's no cultural icon like the nylon 66 or the AR7 or one of my Stevens SXS plastic fantastic guns...

If I were a boat owner and the coasties pulled my over on the water for a safety inspection I would love to show them my paddle - and it be the rifle in question.

My comment was meant to say that around an hour in it was already above $1000, not to imply anything regarding your comment. I got what you were saying, we even called it "boat paddle" in our title as some of the collectors refer to it as such.

Look you guys know me - and most of you like me or at least don't hate me...
So you know that when I am riffing and writing I can come off as a POS without meaning to and when I am angry and dealing with pain I can be very skilled at being a POS and while that's one arrow we all have in our quiver I don't like to nock it and I often regret being that guy even when justified...
The infamous Glock thread that got me in detention for a few weeks is a good example - I would like to think that if asked MC would state that we were on good terms and respectful peers but that I can be a royal class A POS from time to time - that's fair.
And you can take a little harassment and a few slings and arrows - your a strong male figure yourself.
I simply worried that I had said the exact wrong thing at the exact wrong time and did not intend it that way.
Ordinarily I could care less but online forum or not you guys are my support network and I take pride in being a resident firearms autistic encyclopedia...
Or maybe it's just brain synapse rewiring from being so close to death changing my footprint awareness.
But I appreciate that you took it as a joke - I got one PM from a resident albatross that was outraged I compared your gun to a boat paddle - which as you point out you say in your description twice.

Dude, chill out.
I didn't and don't care, I would honestly be surprised if anyone actually cared enough to send you pm over a mostly unfunny joke. I didn't care so I don't see why anyone would be upset. I generally know the market of every item we put on here, so I have an idea what things will bring normally. We guessed $2300 on this but there wasn't enough examples to nail it down so thats whys I titled the thread "interested to see how it goes". We don't do consignments so when we run exclusively penny start no reserve auctions we can't lose too often or we won't be in business. This is a rare occasion where we basically have no skin in the game as we are just selling this for a friend of the store. The only one in the completed auctions was used and brought $1900 with a scope. This is 100% that a collector will be buying it as there is a large niche of people buying zytel Rugers right now.
If you actually got pms lets see them, I'd be interested to know who said what about your joke.
It is not a cataloged item because it was a 1998 distributor exclusive. See photo number 30 in the auction.

I'm sure my elderly friend i sold this for will be surprised.
When it went to $1575 I called him and gave him an update, he said "oh good gosh, I was thinking $1000 would be good"

I've got a Blue Stainless steel Remington 700, 264 magnum, 2nd owner.
after seeing this go for over 3K I'm thinking about modding my 264 stock stock to a boat paddle. Heck I've got a big old wooden boat paddle I can use for the stock maybe.0 -

If you use a 120 gr bullet the recoil is about like a 180 gr bullet out of a 30:06. Not bad at all but one heck of a muzzle blast.
I kill coyotes at 550 yards with mine. I have always just shot 2 shot groups because the barrel heats up fast. (really like H4831 and H1000 powder.
It hits like they have been struck by lighting.
