Not Being able to See Close up -
Really sucks. Best Cookies I have ever had, last week. Chewy Oatmeal w/raisins and nuts. (From the deli.)
Thought I was grabbing more yesterday. Turns out they are Chocolate chunks w/nuts. Good but........
Oh My God Nnooo.................................................................I want Chewy Oatmeal raisin & nut cookies.
I know, a 1st World Problem. (But) I am pretty torn up about it.

A friend of mine went to a local sporting goods store and bought a case of 327 ammo, thinking it was 357..... Since he couldn't return it, he took a bit of a hit on it.. So yep, being visually challenged can be tough. I've always had good vision, and it is tough getting used to. My readers don't stay in focus long enough to use my annual vision benefit.... 0 -
Everyone I know that has had Eye Surgery, can not see detail from 3' in. They don't tell you that. (Bassturds.) I went from not being able to see at distance but being able to see close up, to not being able to see close up, but very good at distance. (Why do they not explain that?)
I really like my vision change, but would have appreciated the "Heads Up."
Cataracts removed and new Lenses installed. Two different surgeries about 2-3 mo. apart.
Without 2.5X "Readers," I am blind up close. Okay,.................... but at least Tell Me beforehand.

Ken, I agree. Eyesight is really important. I had to quit drinking because of poor eyesight up close. The big 6' 6" guys lookded 5' 2" after I got loaded and the wedding rings on the wimmen did no show up. Got into trouble several times because of my poor eyesight.

If I hold a handgun at arms length, I am good to go. Reticles seem to adjust OK for me given the diopter adj. with the scope tube. I do not need glasses at distance. Just close in.

Can't see and can't smell because of the damned face masks. Silly thing makes buying fish difficult to the point if it ain't in the freezer or breaded forget it.
A shotgun solves those close encounters where precision isn't necessary. Just ask Uncle joe.
SCOUT5 - Not for Scout/Pistol scopes I recently found out. I'll have to try with my glasses on.

Hillbille and others so afflicted. Sometimes you can put reading glasses on and adjust the scope where the reticle will be in focus. I know having to slip your "readers" on to shoot something isn't convenient but it may be an option that will extend your hunting range. Get readers with large lenses for this so you don't have to fiddle with them after getting into the scope. 0 -
tried that scout if I can see the recticles with readers it blurrs the target, if look over the readers to clear the target then the recticles get blurry again, so it is a constant head bobbing to shoot, reddot/reflex was simpler solution for me anyway.......SCOUT5 said:Hillbille and others so afflicted. I do remember before my eye surgeries, I had eaten while seated on the couch. I got up and put the dishes in the kitchen. When I returned I saw what I thought was a food morsel on the couch and promptly threw it in my mouth and chewed a couple times. Gaack, hurl, gaack....
It was a Stink Bug. 😣😥😮
It took Forever for the taste to dissipate. I do not recommend putting one in your mouth, much less chewing on it.

Started when I turned 50. I have never worn glasses and have had perfect vision all my life. Now at 60 I have to have 1.5x readers on me at all times..........it sux.I have made all kind of errors due to not having my glasses. Now I have about 20 pairs all over the place but I still get caught without them.
My far vision is still fine.

I have bifocals. While I can function without glasses, even read decent size print with good light. I see both far and near much better with glasses. When shooting a scoped gun the glasses help as I have astigmatism and can only clearly see one reticle line without my glasses the other line will be fuzzy. The glasses correct the astigmatism. So I adjust my scopes for reticle clarity with my glasses on. 0 -
I had cataract surgery a couple of years ago. Had the surgeries a week apart. After that, it was the first time I had 20/20 vision even with my old glasses. Close up it got blurry. I bought prescription glasses that were just clear glass on top and close up on the bottom. These have worked out just fine for me. 0 -
Distance vision is fortunately just fine. 1.5 readers for up close, books, phone, etc. No issue with glass on my long guns. Handguns I use SP shooting glasses that have the magnifier at the top. Zero issues with transitioning. Most close in handgun work is point shooting anyway but the SP's give me the option if I want to tighten up the groups. 0 -

I have several left over high end "Safety Glasses," clear on top, readers on the bottom. Now shooting glasses, everyday glasses. Using a pair just now to read Tablet.

Life has been interfering with my GB time Ken...you know how it is. I stop briefly when time allows, but seldom have time to put much on here. Knowing how you need adult supervision, hopefully Buddy is keeping his eye on you! 0 -
just completed my 2nd eye surgery-cataracts- yesterday.. no font size is unreadable and i can still identify a goose at 1/2 mile. i am escatic over the results and wish i had done this 2 years ago. depth perception has returned to normal also. 0
