Vaccine trials
"Nurses and nursing personnel are recognized as workers being at the highest risk for COVID-19 exposure and infection. National response efforts include bringing vaccines to the public as a primary prevention approach.
COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials are beginning across the US and those trials will soon be available in Kentucky. We want to make sure nurses and nursing personnel are aware of these trials and have the ability to participate in one or more of those trials."
Then it gave contact information etc.
So vaccine efforts are moving forward.

A friend of mines older brother signed up for the Moderna trial recently. He's hoping he gets the vaccine and not the saline control injection.I figure he should have 'some' sign of which one he got,....who knows. I hope it goes well.

To avoid getting it poofed and me banned I'll just describe a pic of the side affects of the Russian vaccine. You know that famous pic of Vladimir Putin fishing without a shirt?? Well he now has boobs. 3 -
I used to work in the pharma industry............conducting clinical trials............mostly HIV drugs. They will go Phase I-through Phase IV...........the data has to be collected, submitted to FDA and analyzed. They will expedite the process but it will through reviews for side effects and efficacy. Studies done on gen pop volunteers. 0 -

I have an experimental power port implanted in my chest - one of the first 500 used on humans in north America - I am part of the fda trials and investigational studies...
Came with an alert bracelet to spur physician inquiries.
I have participated in a half dozen investigational studies and am involved in one current drug trial...
I figured I would have been dead by now - certainly did not expect to make it to the 4 year mark (this November) so I figured WTH someone down the line should benefit from my brutal ordeal and still expected death...
If I was allowed to have a live vaccine I might sign up for these trials too - but my platinum based chemo and targeted radiation treated immune system supposedly rules out live vaccine or at least carries a high risk of death...
I think of pediatric oncology cases and roll the dice - since I am supposed to be dead anyway already half a dozen times...
I think my possible sacrifice is worth any potential benefit a child with cancer might receive.
Hell I allowed myself to be transported to the NIH in Bethesda and tortured in an obscene manner just in case somebody somewhere - perhaps one of your spouse's or children or grandchildren might live.
If you think that makes me a fool or a mark or a shill or a tool please explain your position...

Novavax just announced that they are beginning phase 2B trials in South Africa. I guess that we all must share the risk as well as the benefit.Neal

Mike I used to conduct clinical trials working for a big CRO out of NC. I have worked on Phase I-IV trials. Mostly HIV drugs. 14 years in the clinical research industry. I know what the study subjects go through and the benefit that this research gives to society. I don't think you are a fool at all. Experimental treatments have to be tested. While I am now enrolled in palliative care and and soon to see new specialist neurologists and dermatologists...
While I am now on an experimental med and working on changing out many of my meds for those that come at things from a different angle...
While I will be seeing a new specialized oncologist and hematologist or tissue specialist all to try to deal with the platinum toxicity and severe intractable degenerative neuropathy related pain and dysfunctions...
I don't really have high hopes that they can at this point do much of anything for me - not before the cancer inevitably returns to kill me off or the sesqualae of fallout and collateral damage and associated conditions caused by platinum poisoning combine to kill me...
Unless anybody really believes that a stage IV terminal cancer patient with lymph node involvement combined with the damage caused by platinum based chemo and targeted radiation treatments lives to see 50 or 60 - that through some anomalies in my genetics and structure I can be the one person who beats the odds...
I know our health care system is irreparably broken and that many companies involved in the industry are in it for pure profit not for altruistic reasons...
And I know nobody here was directing any attacks or casting aspersions in my direction - but on this issue I think sceptical thought with compassion is probably best...

Mike.............I am praying for you. And there is hope. I think I mentioned this in a previous post........but I have had testicular cancer and went through platinum based chemo as well..........................don't give up brother.
