Holster recommendation
I was at the State Fair and wandered past this guy's tent. All kinds of good smells were coming out so I went in. He was sitting there working on leather, and I said I'm in the market to carry a Colt Anaconda, and he pulled out his chest holster. It's a simple design and places the gun right in the middle of your chest, up high out of the muck. It was nice but I'm left handed, so he hunted around and struck out. "Come back tomorrow" he sez, so I did.
Next day I walked in and he handed me a work of art, done in leather. He uses English bridle leather, and the heaviest steel components I've ever seen. The stitching is perfect, waxed, he has rivets at stress points, and it fits the gun *perfect*. I tried it on and said I didn't really want it across my chest, more hanging vertical under my arm, up high. So a couple quick adjustments and there she was. Perfect placement. It has a piece hanging off the bottom with a clip, he said "clip that onto your Carhartts" and I looked... sure enough there's a hammer loop right there on Carhartts and the clip held the gun exactly where I want it.
The other vendor here is Diamond D, and he makes good stuff too. But Ghost Town has got him beat with quality of materials, and attention to detail.

I like a chest holster but it has its place. Driving, flying, stand sitting, hiking and biking, they are great. I made one for myself for my 22 w/silencer because the setup is too long for a belt holster. Works great walking or driving the tractor.
Just make sure your Parka is large enough to allow you to layer (room for the chest holster).
There used to be a guy in Wasilla, I think, that made great chest holsters but a little expensive (Diamond D?).

This is the kind I am planning to get for my Redhawk. Just haven't quite gotten around to it. Pricey, but very hard to find a Kydex chest option anywhere else. Seems like they get real good reviews as well, and they claim to be able to make them for just about any model if you contact them.

I had a fellow make me a chest pouch. I can hide a Glock in it. Also room for first aid, a sandwich, whatever.It doesn't freak out the sheeple like an exposed gun.
