I didn't know that Browning made them in 454. I have the Winchester version in 38-55 great rifles

Buy it as a back up to a back up deer rifle.

I have one in 243.  I got it between 35 and 40 years ago.  I quickly learned a single shot rifle makes you a better hunter.  Not only have I gotten many deer with it, my 21 year old son got his first deer with it around 8 years ago.  That Browning has a special place in my heart!!

If I was to lust after a SS rifle in a large handgun caliber.

    It would be 500 S&W.

bustedknee - I'd pass on the S&W 500. What's the S&W 460 that takes like three calibers? That's the way I'd go. And with bum shoulders I don't need the weight lugging it or the bump from the recoil. I'm really getting to be a delicate flower.

I have one to go with my Freedom Arms revolver.  So far have just looked at it.  Neat rifle. Started with a Rossi lever 454. Sold it at a LGS.  Did not stay on the rack 3 days. The folks at Ranger Point Precision would not make one from a Marlin. Considered using a Ruger #3 action for a 454, found the Browning.   Had to have it.  Not many around.

Here is a review on a lever action in 454 I'd like to have.  But prices right now start at about $3100

To go with my 454 revolver.   It's also a legal deer cartridge for public land here in Indiana.   The thing is I have more deer hunting guns than I use now.

    Good lookin rifle
