If it was not for bad luck........UPDATE, I am waiting but happy

I can't win with night optics.  I just bought a ATN X sight 4K PRO and put it on the Ruger American .308 rifle.  Today, in spite of the heat I wanted to get it sighted in for some racoon control tonight.  I got it set in bags for sighting in.  I got the focus set, eyepiece set and SD card in to record shots.  I fired a total of eight rounds noticing the focus was going way out I was trying to get it focused on the 100 yard target, it was so blurry I could not see it.  On the eighth shot the entire front of the scope broke off with two hunks of aluminum laying on the shooting bench along with the entire front of the scope.
I will take it back to the seller and see if they will exchange it.  I do not feel like waiting for ATN to fix it.  This is the second ATN product I have purchased that was an issue.

UPDATE:  ATN came through, William went to management and they agreed to exchange my busted scope with a new one.  I have asked for an engineering report on the failure mode.  I am awaiting the FEDEX label to return the busted one and they said they will ship the replacement to me as soon as the return shipment is confirmed.  We will see.... More to follow.

    I may hold off on getting their night vision version of that to put on my 308

    This is night vision, it is IR not thermal.  I had a thermal on order but SG is as screwed up as a soup sandwich so I canceled the order.  I need a darn night vision to reduce the racoon population.  My game cam has shown over a DOZEN of them at once.

    IR (infra red) IS thermal.  So, if I understand you correctly, you have what I would term a digital "starlight" scope with an image  intensifier, not thermal or IR.  Yours is digital (not analog like previous evolutions), but not IR.
    So basically these digital units straddle the gap between the old true starlight scopes and thermal in that the image you see is digitally reproduced, you're not actually looking through the objective lens, but the camera is...right?

    Yes, it is  TV screen you are viewing in the scope, day or night.  At night it takes an IR source to see much.  The current technology can make seeing things with an IR flashlight out to about 800 yards.  It looks like broad daylight in the scope with the IR source shining on the target.

    I live in the city limits so shooting them isn't an option.
    What I did was apply a good dose of hot pepper sauce to some birdseed.
    Heard some strange noises in the woods later that night but no more raids on bird feeder ;)
