Mercedes AMG GTS

A friend I golf with also is a race car driving instructor.  We went to the driving range and then to a Mexican joint for lunch.  He picked me up in a AMG GTS Coupe with a 4.0L and twin turbos.

Our golf bags wouldn't both fit in the "hatch" but I will say it is a fast car and fun to drive.  He has a GT 3 and a Viper that he runs on the track and I have driven both but the GTS was more fun than either.  Its not his car but a guy he knows.  The guy wanted to borrow his truck so he let him drive the GTS(nice trade for a day).  He let me drive it back and I had to get used to the paddle shifter on the wheel.  But it would get it.  Its not as quick as the Viper and doesn't handle as well as the GT 3 but it was fun.  He is going to take it to VIR and put it on the track next month.  He wants me to follow him up in his Viper and run the track a few times. 

Oh yea the car had the upgrade on the suspension and engine/trans.  I looks like this:

    It was very cool.  He is a really good driver and put it to it on a twisty road.  The thing was like it was on rails.

    The Viper and GT3 are conventional naturally aspirated/fuel injected cars with a normal manual trans mission.  This thing has twin turbos and a kind of clutchless shifter that is between an auto and stick, different but fun.

    The hood is magnesium.

    Yes his GT3 is white and blue and is a track car only, not street legal.  We have driven it on the back country roads around here and its a blast.  It is like a really sharp knife and the Viper is like a Chainsaw, totally different but both are fun.

    The GTS is maxed out and the guy who owns it paid some serious coin for it like 150K.

    My buddy is from South Africa and got his start driving Rally cars.  He can push a car around.
