Why did you hold back?  Sounds like it was an ideal time for some education.

Have some hope buckglove, my Son was also very Liberal (came from his Mom.) [My Ex.] and was espousing voting for Bernie Sanders last time around. Couldn't talk to him about Politics without an argument ensuing.

Now thankfully, (apparently he had been listening to me.) Although living in Denver, he is speaking up and communicating with me against the BLM & ANTIFA movement, as well as the Democratic platform and agenda. I makes me feel good, he is maturing, thinking and observing.

An object lesson is in order. Strip his room of everything but one sock. At the next meal, scrape his plate of all but one bite and portion it out to the others. Then say, "Welcome to socialism."

Ken my son was the same way, he is a college proffessor. Seems like once they get out on their own in the real world and have to work to pay bills they do tend to wisen up a little, my son was a big hillary fan. once he bought his house and started to pay taxes and such he finally realized there is no free money except to politicians............

Sorry but at 13 that young whipper snapper knows nothing about the real world.  He is merely parroting what he is hearing from his parents and in school most likely (when it was in session).
I would have definitely voiced my opinion even if it meant pissing off my own child.

I saw this word used in another thread and remembered how I felt when I realized that the younger generation uses it as a derogatory term for us old folks. While listening to my 13 year old grandson go on about how great it would be if bernie sanders was in power. I had to hold back my side of the conversation. He remarked that a lot of old people had to die before we can rid our country of the evil capitalist. I hesitated reminding him that this more than adequate house and land came to be ours through that evil capitalist activity called work.
Somewhere the youngsters are getting this feeding that the rich should give up their money and give to the have nots.    I could add more to this by saying there is hope because the grandsons from the other daughter have the earning mentality.
It is truly amazing how a few short years can make such a huge difference as to how people view things.

No, he needs an object lesson of having everything he owns given away as per "socialist redistribution" to see how it really works.

It would have to be a really good one, but I'm afraid he's simply lost.

My 26 yo daughter became a conservative the moment she opened her first real paycheck after graduating from nursing school.  When she found out how of her pay disappeared she was doing some serious complaining.      :D

Many never learn:  There is no such thing as "government money"; government is just a mechanism for redistribution of the peoples' money.
