You know it is hot when my two Border Collies are
lying in the shade panting rather running around the yard chasing each other!!!!!! Bella and Lola dislike rain even more than heat. When it rains, except for quick potty breaks they have to stay inside. Momma's orders. Muddy feet, even when wiped off at the door, still aren't clean enough to come into Momma's house. Nope, no way.
Our daughter and I have many times dropped food on Momma's kitchen floor, reached down picked it up and eaten what ever we dropped. Drives Momma crazy but both of us just say it just might be the cleanest place in the county.

Train your misses to take her shoes off as one enters the home. Then again I suppose the dogs will track pee and poop in to the home on their feet so a little mud ain't nothing but a dropped meatball on the tile. Besides y'alls know where the dogs be licking.
Almost forgot. Dog Booties. If nothing else they're hailarious when you slap those on dogs and they might keep the floor clean?

All shoes are removed upon entering the house, dogs paws are wiped as they come back into the house and booties for BCs don't work as at full sprint the booties are no match for BC acceleration!! 0
