Moved out of NC now 20 years but Raleigh, especially around UNC was just as bad.  Area around Asheville is great, but downtown was a freak show.   Northern transplants (D voters) have been ruining the state

And some people don't like homeowner's associations. :)

The Biltmore is a common day trip for my Wife and Daughter.
I think the area around Asheville is some of the most beautiful in the Eastern US.

It's a wonder why transplants insist on making their new local into the place that they wanted to leave behind :/

I used to put my 4 speed in neutral and coast down the mountain starting at the top of Black Mountain at the Eastern Continental Divide to the bottom at OLD FORT; could hit speeds in excess of 90 MPH.
I have seen Big Rigs take the sand pits to stop.

FCD that is some pretty good detective work.  First, the definition of "assemblage"

"Assemblage" is an eclectic art form practiced by some.  It is the art of assembling a series of unrelated objects and making them look like something else.
I think this is it, because these are certainly unrelated objects.   But, supposed to look like something else.  I wonder what that is.
Yes, concrete footing poured for the statue.  If you couldn't tell, it is a statue of a skier.
The concrete columns to the right of the red trailer were made from Sonotubes.   This foundation is about 16 feet wide and 30 feet long.  Right off the bat, the guy poured this foundation,  he was going to build a house.
Then, he found out he could not get a septic permit, being in the flood plain of Bear Creek.  Plus I think his Sonotube work did not meet spec.  The Sonotube concrete columns, some of them have gotten a little crooked over the years so obviously they were not done right.
There is no well on the property.   There is electric.  The previous owner ran the electric in, just a pole with a GFI on it, and he parked a camper trailer there, and I often went down and had grilled steaks with that guy, Bruce.
The [flat] property is 150 feet long,  and 50 feet wide.   The bandstand is at the downstream end, and it faces the rest of the lot.
There is a granite kitchen countertop on the left side of the stage.  What this is for, since there is no water, who knows?

No kidding.  Your wife knew my family.   Great grandfather David's homestead was about 1 mile west of Mina, and one mile south.   My great grandfather James Harry Lewis ran the general store in Mina, ca 1910.
My Aunt Winne was the teacher at the school there in Mina.
My grandfather Frank Lewis ran the silo in Ree Heights in 1934.  He was killed there in a car wreck in 1936.

Here is the gravestone of David Lewis and his wife Jane Russell Lewis in Aberdeen.  He and James Harry and grandpa Frank are all buried there.  I was just up there a year ago.

FCD:  Look at the countertop.  It has holes bored for the sink and the faucet.
I suspect you are right.  The date 1952 is probably the birth date of the owner.  An old hippy with a trust fund.
Now, let us figure out what "MR. WU TU's CHAPEL OF LOVE"    "open 24 hours a day" means.

For that matter, what does "Mr. Wu Tu" mean.

I just looked up "Mr. Wu Tu" on google.   Nothing.   Dear God if it does not exist on google what can it mean?

I am a little west of there, but I gotta say I like it.  The dude has a sense of humor.  It is his money so what do you care my friend?  Quiet neighbors are worth a lot in my view.  I have a .38/9mm and a .45 hole in my carport from the other kind.  Don't they get that could have been someone's roof and someone's kid?
