For you stock market folks
Are Amazon stock shares a good buy at around 3 grand per for the long term? What company might be just as good or better for the same time?

Wallyworld is trying to break into Amazon's garden with Internet sales. Bought a vacuum cleaner Dirt devil brand cheaper than Flea bay and Amazon with a quality product to boot!serf

That ship has sailed. Instead of asking a bunch of strangers for stock tips, you would be wise to simply invest in some index funds. The NASDAQ index has been the best performing index this year and it holds Amazon, Netflix, Facebook, and all the liberal high-flyers. 0 -
It has bounced up and down so much that the day traders are doing OK. Me, I'd probably screw up and buy high and sell low.🙄 Bob 0 -
I'm staying with Apple. It has been very very good to me. Zoom is doing great. New stock IPO BLI up to $65 today. 0 -
Kimi, get into a good stock fund and let someone else manage the individual company choices. I have done that since the early 80's, choosing only when to move money in and out of the fund. It has worked well for me. Trying to be a day trader... well that is why you don't hear the term day trader any longer. Buy low, sell high, that is really all you need to know. Hang on in between. 3 -
just buy AT&T (T), might not go up or down much but pays a 'safe' 7% div. 0 -
just send it to me, and better than the lottery I will send half back and say you won!!!! 6 -
Another vote for hiring the smart people to do the picking for you. I don't understand a single thing about the market, but I faithfully sent money every month to a couple of funds, and after 40 years or so, my net worth starts with the prefix "multi." 6 -
I believe the time is past on Amazon, but there is another good E-commerce company that is doing good and is traded; Channeladvisor NYSE: ECOMMy problem with Amazon is 2 fold:1. No dividend2. Too much PC and Green crap
They don't pay a dividend(neither does Amazon) but they are a good company, I would say they are a buy at $9.00 or $10

Thanks to everyone for the time and comments. I'll probably go back to mutual funds, and maybe add a monthly amount as Rocky mentioned. You folks have a grand weekend!!! 0 -
I'm still holding on to my Woolworth's and Western Auto stocks. I'm in for the long haul. 6 -
Beyond mutual funds, check out ETFs. There’s a very strong one called QQQ.

I bought my Amazon holdings back when it was around 700 bucks, and I thought I was crazy then. Personally I wouldn't be initiating a position at this level, but YMMV.A simple 'hands off, fairly conservative' portfolio made up of funds/ETFs is:XLU - 23%XLP - 23%XLV - 23%TLT - 20%QQQ - 10% (For juicing performance)
Of course timing your purchases when one or the other is down / out of favor is key. I think there will be much better buying opportunities again before too long,........unfortunately.

I like food companies/processors......people are always going to eat, they're quite, lay low & don't makes waves but they do make money, never been disappointed in the returns

I wouldn't recommend buying individual company shares at all, various complimentary mutual funds and ETFs perhaps., even than best to have some guidance.
A lot depends on your circumstances, age, risk tolerance, net worth/assets, etc.
My personal belief is the market is WAY over priced and hyped if you look at the balance sheet of even blue chips they all seem to be carrying too much debt regardless of low rates. The "thing" in Bonds now a days is perpetual LOL meaning they never plan to pay it off just keep paying interest for ever. Of course this is just my .02

Meanwhile my QQQs are up 2.96% today ❤️
