Was looking at a "Widgeon" 12 gauge detachable magazine (underneath) bolt action
shotgun. Does the encircled"JM" at the back of the barrel on the right side make it worth a nickel more?

With some few exceptions. Bolt action shotguns, are inexpensive utility guns.
Like everything else that is previously owned, sold on the resale marketplace. Demand will establish value.
Even if it's a older, Marlin made, i.e, made before the Remington takeover. Don't see it being a big buck item.0 -
Thank you; not looking for giant money. Just found the "JM" strange. "Older"? Hmmm; ancient.
