We catch good cats in tidal basin. Notice Washington monument.. smallest Cat 5 lbs biggest 15lbs so far. 4 lb bass caught on goldfish (no bait stores) we were trying to catch a snakehead. Proud that he is becoming an angler. Nothing better than getting out with your boy! Caught a bunch of tiny stripers when we were trying to catch bait! Blue cats are easy here 3 -
Nice Job DAD !!!! Some of best discussions I had with my sons occurred while we were fishing....Enjoy those opportunities !!! 0 -
When I lived in Alexandria in 1960, you could easily catch fish like that in the Potomac. They were floating dead on top of the water.0 -
Great outing; nothing like father and son or daughter time!!!!! 3 -
Enjoy, they grow up REAL quick

Nice job men. 0 -
Is that in the Potomac? 0 -
Nice fish. Enjoy this time with your son, he will grow up quickly 0 -
Nice blue. For that I'd let the stove get splatted by cooking oil. There's a youtuber who fishes in D.C. off those slabs (I suppose all the slabs in D.C. looks the same).
You need big bait for snakeheads and kind a slow water.

They were snakeheads in the tidal basin entrance. Every min or two one would shoot up grab a shad or take a breath and go back down. Wouldn’t eat a crank bait tried several models and retrieves. I’ll try again with live bluegill
all pics in the Potomac I’ve been doing ok at teddy roosevelt island also. Caught about 30 blue cats, avg 8lbs. Hooked a 8-10lb gar but got off as I was trying to land and talk to a girl at the same time0 -
You know, I never would have imagined someone going fishing where you and your boy were fishing!
Looks like a great day, Tsavo!0 -
Yep great times. 63 years ago I caught a cat fish but it wasn't as big as you guys caught but it still gave my old Airex half bail spinning reel and Conolon rod a good tussle.
