Ticks
About 3 years ago I pulled one off me.
I have had hundreds over a life time.
But this little bugger, she done me good.
Lone star spotted, I didn't think anything about it, month go by.
I start getting sick every time I are beef.
Hives head to toe, starts on the soles of my feet.
Itch like a hairbrush isn't good enough to scratch it.
Then I blow the bathroom up.
Next level, full on antiplexus, gets my air.
Wife called the meat wagon, I was coming out of it by then so no trip to the hospital.
All this starts about 8 hours after I invest. Just a heads up, I miss Arby's an New York strips.
Short word for this is "Alpha Gal". If you hit tick country hit the Deet. .
Lots of folks are coming down with this new thing an it's spreading from the east.

Friend of mine has had it for about five years. Even the smoke from a grill could cause a reaction. She found out about a new acupuncture regimen for it and went through the treatment. She is now testing negative for alphagalactose. It might be worth a look see.

I find ticks attached every day. Sometimes 1 or 2 but other times 10+. No amount of DEET or any other preventative will work.
I had a serious bout with LYME disease in 2006 or 7 and haven't been well since. I don't know which is worse tick bites in the belly button, crotch, or armpit. Currently have all three locations in full itch mode.0 -
You got to spray your boots well with permethrin.
Ticks usually come up from the leaves laying on the ground for a meal.
I use a 1 gallon handheld sprayer to spray industrial strength permethrin from Tractor Supply all around my deer stand in the middle of September and never had a tick on me hunting.

found one embedded in my left shoulder this spring. in about a week it developed the bullseye, then my left knee got extremely sore, both symptoms of lyme disease. went to my GP, he wasnt convinced but put me on antibiotics for 10 days and those symptoms went away. tick bites are to be taken seriously. 0 -
Since my son came down with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and a neighbor contracted Lyme disease from tick bites we've been at war with the ticks. We wear permethrin impregnated pants tucked into our boots and shirts from Insect Shield (www.insectshield.com), permethrin spray on our boots and mouse poison to break the life cycle of the deer tick. Preventive measures are a lot cheaper than doctor bills. 0 -

Ticks SCARE ME! I check the family jewels, legs and anywhere else I can check with a mirror. Luck has been on my side so far, I have found them crawling up my legs a few times but never have gotten one stuck into to me. They are amazingly difficult to crush. I use both thumb nails and smush them flat. Then I go wash my hands to get the yuk off my thumbs. 0 -

Last night on my favorite show, Coast to Coast, they had on a gal who had caught Lyme disease. Spent $50 grand and went to 10 hotshot California doctors, over the span of a year, none of them had a clue.
Finally, a clerk in a health food store told her it sounded like Lyme, and recommended a specialist Lyme doctor. She finally got treatment, massive antibiotics, and it took years for her to get straightened out.
They were saying that the Lyme causes all kinds of mental problems, and many people who are diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers are in fact suffering from Lyme disease, the doctors being too incompetent to get the diagnosis.

Had one on the right shoulder blade, a small one. But it left a swollen spot, no bullseye but itched gor a week. Now my blood is at the lab, we’ll see.
i usually get larger ones each year but get them soon enough to not get a hot itchy raised area. Have to spray my boots and pants.
Good luck with yours, no beef would be a tough deal, but your symptoms sound even worse.

Use permethrin on pants and boots. Instead of DEET, Picaridin spray (red can instead of green). If you get one on you, tweezers to remove. DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ON IT WHILE STILL IN YOU. Make it sick, it pukes- into your bloodstream. Don't crush em- flush em. 0 -
Ran a large Outdoor Adventure Equipment Store for apprx 23 years. Most of us (staff of around 65-75) were hard core Adventure junkies. Lots and lots of time outside/in the woods. Lot's of Lyme disease diagnosis amongst the staff. I also had the distincitve bullseye rash, and was up to speed enough about the symptoms to convince the Dr. I needed a course of antibiotics.
Lyme disease is no joke, and can result in serious medical issues if left untreat/undiagnosed.

I've had Rocky Mountain tick fever twice. first time almost got me. (about week in hospital)
2nd time a blood test showed my antibodies were fighting it.
$10 in prescription pills took care of both.
I treat my complete sets of tick repel cloths with the Permethrin from tractor supply and store them in a plastic container labeled treated cloths. You can find the recipe for diluting the tractor supply permethrin on-line.
Also read the warning label. The reason for doing my own clothing treatment is I can treat several set of cloths for few dollars and have bottle of treatment left over for later due to reducing the strength with water. (This wet method is less expensive than the Spray Aerosol's in a can) I use a Plastic bucket and rubber gloves (gaunlet type to elbows) when handling the solution. The tractor supply solution is mainly for spraying cattle and horse stalls for pest prevention and is too strong for clothing treatment. The tractor supply bottle is about $15. The left over liquid from the clothing treatment bucket is good for spraying onto yard or leaf beds to kill ticks. It also kill mosquitos fast. You can also do a mix and spray your yard areas for killing ticks, chiggers and mosquitos. (follow label instructions and precautions)
I've seen ticks jump off the treated cloths and have seen Mosquitos die after them stabbing their snout into a treated garment.
I sometimes still treat my shoes and lower britches above the shoes with deet if I'm going into a possible nest of thick ticks, but I've found that Permethrin makes the ticks die if they don't bail off whereas Deet is just a repellant and must be re-applied quite often to remain effective.
Permethrin will kill a cat fast if it gets a dose, per the label.
