Just Reported a Fraudulent Practice
To the USPS.
I had ordered a used item through eBay to be shipped Priority Mail.. It finally arrived in a medium Priority Mail Box. The USPS wrote on the box to contact the shipper since the seller put a Media Mail label (cheaper) on it. I did. The seller messaged me back that he/she did it because it was cheaper and had been caught doing it before. It it will be a surprise if the USPS does anything since only a small dollar amount is involved. But who knows.
I hate being cheated and cheaters. It would have been less expensive if the seller used First Class Mail.
A unintentional mistake I'll forgive. What do you think?

Honestly, just like ammo getting mailed and telling the feds about it, it is NOT your concern. It is between the shipper that is doing the misdeeds and the USPS. Let them haggle it out, you don't have a dog in this fight and YOU GOT WHAT YOU ORDERED. Leave it alone.I do not understand fellow citizens that rat out someone when they were not involved in the transgressions of either party. We are getting to be like Germany and the USSR with folks running to the authorities over much ado over nothing.

Maybe we are doomed as a nation. Eighty-eight thousand pages of IRS code. A stack of Federal, State and Local regulations and taxes miles high has made America the land of making it impossible to go through a full day without breaking some law. Sad, really sad. Why folks find it necessary to stick their noses into others business is beyond my comprehension. I thank God above for allowing me to live way out in the boonies where neighbors look after each other and ignore things that do not concern them.6 -
No doubt the sender was on a watch list from the Postal Inspectors and they caught him again. Cheating the Federal Govt will not go well with him. Regardless of the amount of money. The sender could have also ran the label online with the Media mail sticker just to save some money and not lie to the counter postal worker. 0 -

And that's just members ratting me out or claiming I broke the rules and should be banned. I imagine at least 20% of such nonsense complaints are directed at me - by senior members and GB sellers.
Think I did something wrong in a post - say so in a thread response or get lost.

It wasn't a postal clerk that screwed up putting a Media Mail label on a Priority Mail box. I examined the label. It was printed through eBay, said so on the label. I've done that dozens of times 2 months. The seller can select the the type of service desired, weight, package size, etc. and print the label. There's usually a small discount in price. It is very convenient. I have one to print when I get home for a small item.
In the case of the OP deliberately printed a cheaper label and taped it to a more expensive box and admitted doing so multiple time and getting caught before. This factored into my decision to report the seller to the USPS.

I think when you find yourself worrying about things like this its a good sign that you don't have enough going on in your world. I'm not even joking, its seriously a thing that happens to me sometimes when I am idle too long. I'll worry over stupid mess that really shouldn't matter if I don't have a lot going on. You might want to try a hobby, volunteer some of your time to something that keeps you busy, yard work even......it helps clear your mind and levels the things out so things that don't matter aren't front and center for you to focus on. 6 -
I am surprised that USPS delivered the package with incorrect postage due. Several years back, a seller on GB did a similar thing when sending me an item. It was packaged as Express Mail and sent as a First Class package. I received a note in my mailbox that a package was at the Post Office for me to pick up. When I showed the clerk the notice, she showed me the package and incorrect markings, with a "postage due" marking on it. Stated I had to pay the difference before I could have the package. The amount owed exceeded the total cost of the item! I refused the package, and it went back to sender to be corrected. I also emailed the sender and explained the situation. Seller resent the package correctly the second time. 0 -

Obviously the Post Office had already noticed it as they put a note on the package. If they wanted to take any action, they already had all of the information they require.
Kinda like calling in and reporting someone driving too fast after they have already been pulled over.3 -
Yep, I agree. A couple months ago I got some ammo from a commercial seller on GB. It was shipped UPS Ground, with no ORMD placard. By looking at the tracking information one could tell it took a plane ride. I went from Massachusetts to eastern Washington in 47 hours. Most of the people I've met in prison thought that they were too slick to get caught. USPS does have the right to open any package that they have reason to believe contains a prohibited item. Suppose you ship some primers without proper labeling, & your package happens to be in the hold of an airplane where there is a fire due to an illegal shipment of rechargeable batteries. The fellas with the bulges in the cheap suits aren't just going to send your primers back with postage due; they will make an example for you. You have to think things through before you do any thing new.Neal

I don't think it is malicious always. My shipping person is a jarhead. (And I do mean that in the most endearing way) Super sweet lady, but a Small Flat Rate Box is not the same thing as a small mailing box and they will bring it back to you. Reprint the label, send it again. No ma'am. pistols cannot go ground that is why it came back. No ma'am, you cannot use a FedEx medium box to ship FedEx Ground that's only for FedEx (different tariff) . Lots of things like that that we have to do over and over and over and over.... Our Maintenance guy is also a jarhead, but he can fix damn near anything with baling wire, WD40 and/or duct tape!! 0 -
Ok, since I ship 100+ packages a day, I'll chime in here.
USPS has a new system that verifies ALL packages for weight and proper categories such as First Class or Priority, etc.
SO, if you ship a package "First Class" and it has the wrong weight on it, and it really should be Priority, they'll ding your account, and go ahead and deliver the packages.This works GREAT, since the customer doesn't get the "postage due" notices.
UNFORTUNATELY.........about 50% of USPS employees have NO CLUE about how this system works, and STILL try to process the "postage due" labels!UGH! Learn your own system, people!It rarely happens, but sometimes things are the wrong weight, and then we get charged for it on the back end.
