Macadoodles trip-newest scotch whiskey
Watching grandson while #3 and her spousal unit vacation. Did a Macadoodles run to see what I could see. They always have a rack with new finds. Picked up this little gem. Looking forward to getting home to try it out.

23 years in a sherry cask. It has to be smooth and probably a bit sweet, although at nearly 100 proof it should still have a bit of bite to it. 0 -

Range report and a pic of the bottle from which I want a sip. #3 won it in a raffle. It sits upon the shelf mocking me while they are gone.
The Auchroisk is aromatic with floral notes and hints of the sherry. On the palate it is smooth with a touch of vanilla and a tad bit of peat in the lingering bite. I will thoroughly enjoy this one.

I am about half way through a 12 year old van winkle. IMHO it is good but not great.

A friend of mine brings his Van Winkle to the Christmas event each year. We have it down to around 1/3rd of the bottle now. One of us is supposed to buy something fancy to replace it with when its over to keep the tradition going. My husband is a fan of these things.....I'm more of a party beverage fan, something with a slice of apple floating around in it with some blueberries or a slushy something that is three colors topped off with an umbrella and some flair. Pappadeaux's has something called a "Dirty Dirty" that makes me talk to the people sitting at the nearby tables (its pretty awesome.) 0 -

Too funny. I've been sampling different years of Glenfiddich and pick up a bottle of something different with each trip to Northwest Arkansas or to Little Rock where i shop at the Air Force Base Class VI store.
I also, always have Jeffersons in the cabinet; small batch, select reserve and/or Oceans.

Glenfiddich always leaves me thinking of McDonald’s. They play it way too safe. They need character, personality. Not just McLiquor.
I know it seems like heresy but have you tried the Kirkland scotch at Costco? Some of it is downright excellent. They contract with distilleries and slap their own label on it and sometimes you can tell what’s in there if you pay attention. And it’s next to free.
