Clams and Black Beans Sauce and "Firefly/Serenity"
Since I'm officially "Asian" I'm gonna Chinese it up this weekend. Gonna see if my favorite Chinese joint is open for pick up. If not I'll still make Clams and Black Beans Sauce and have a "Firefly/Serenity" marathon. Yes I will watch it with commentaries after. That's why I still buy DVDs/Blu Rays. It would be nice if the Chinese joint will be open and yes the cooks are Chinese and not Mexicans "taught" to cook Chinese like some places I know. I suppose I could double down and get Corona beer to see if I get COVID and Corona.
The Clams and Black Beans Sauce will be made like the old Chinese joint I loved but old man let the daughter or niece take over? Either way the food is crap. The Chow Mein is now this gummy mess and not the chewy delight the old man used to make. Sure it was drowning in oil but that was the old school way of 1960s. If you want "healthy" eat a salad. Anyways it'll be spicy with Jalapeno and Serrano Chili peppers with stupid amount of garlic. Not that Jalapeno these days are spicy. It's more like small pointy bell pepper.

You should have tried one of my bell peppers from my garden last year. If a pepper plant "volunteers" in my garden where I can let it grow I will leave it to grow up and bear peppers. So I cut up what looked like a green bell pepper and popped a piece in my mouth. You know bell peppers have no heat, right?? So I put a piece of this bell pepper in my mouth and instantly start doing the "hot pepper dance"!! After I thought about it for a while, since it came from last years seed I'm guessing a normal bell pepper got fertilized by either a scotch bonnet, ghost pepper or a Carolina Reaper. It may have looked like a bell but it sure had heat!!

Ricci.Wright - Let me guess the "black beans" threw you off? I should've mentioned they're salted then fermented and kind a dry. Or was it the Mexican peppers? Dude might've used something else but I think it's what was used. Not like dude gave me a recipe before he quit.
The Chinese joint was opened and they changed to different noodles. Very reminiscent of the noodles used at the local I loved (changed ownership and they're crap). Maybe they got more time to do things correctly? Instead of turn and burn. Clams came out okay. I was watching people do this dish and most of them let them soak in water with a bit of salt to make them spit out sand. Sand was still in them and all they did was pick up the chlorine flavor. Never doing that again. Scrub the shells, cook and swish the clams in the cooking liquid. At least this way no chlorine flavor and big chunks of grit will be in the liquid. Strain the liquid through the metal coffee filter. I love that coffee filter, best thing I bought.
Nearly 20 years ago the show was on. I might've said 15 if asked. They were so young looking. Before I re-watch it with commentaries I would like to see Joss make "Serenity 2". I wonder how much it would cost? I mean "Tremors" got like 6 movies (and they got another movie coming out this year) all because of Gummer. I'll bet if folks passed the hat we could make it happen.
Anyways my idea of "2" is about 20 year later. Zoe had a kid who's about 20 (from the last time Wash got frisky) the reason why she didn't punch her own ticket. Kaylee and Doc got couple running around too (maybe 3 whose "special") Ah, the pitter patter of tiny feet in huge combat boots (revisited). River is a little better and she's the pilot. Maybe Zoe's kid takes after pops? Jayne is still Jayne or the "new" Book? The whole preacher with a gun named Vera. Mal is a little more haggard. Might as well bring back Mrs. Malcom Reynolds (Christina Hendricks) for the eye candy. Also got to bring back "Badger" Mark Sheppard since I reckon could use a job since dying in Alt-Verse "Supernatural".
The Alliance is not having a good time either since they got found out they created the Reavers and folks aren't pleased. Maybe the Alliance split in to two? One doubled down and got more hard core and the other a shell of former self (moderate). The "Blue Hands" are still trying to get River back. At this point just to kill her? And to sweep her under the rug. Some how Kaylee and Doc's kid is found out he/she is River 2.0 without the crazies. While doing a job Niska (the old torturey guy) kidnaps he/she "special" kid just because.

NeoBlackdog - Barely a season. I think "Kitchen Confidential" got even a shorter "season" in that era on Fox. What was going on in Fox back then?
Still got left over Chinese food. I reckon I'll be taking some to work. No need to cook this coming week other than rice.
I think I'll dig out "Kitchen Confidential" and start thinking about shows that got canned early.
