    i remember when what was considered what was dark was relative with your age.  also i remember installing seat belts in my Dads 1962 fairlane.

      when a car had 100k it was junk. mostly just  worn out and most of the time used more oil than gas . value was just about scrap price 
     now its a bonus and bragging   to have a used car with only 100K miles  :)
      families and neighbors got together on the " porch" to just BS  share time and stories  during the nice evenings / nights 
            it seemed like every one had more time and not in a hurry or stressed more laid back and content with what they had not trying to be something they were not 
     I remember neighbors  "borrowing" a cup  of sugar or coffee or similar  until Friday ( pay day )  to get by on  I do not think any one really expected to get it returned but borrowing was more respectful way of asking for help  
     also  a couple or maybe even  5.00 for gas to get to work on ( that was repaid and expected to be  and not in the league of food ) 
     most every one I knew  would go out of there way to help a friend or neighbor in need or trouble there was always room at the table for any one hungry 
          I guess by today's standards I grew up white privileged

    Yes I remember when I could do an oil change, change the plugs and points all within half hour.

    If you don't go to the dealership now days you will need at least a rocket scientist, computer with a special APP, $1000 service manual, another optional but not free APP for guidance for use of the service manual couple Japs with itty bitty hands just to change the oil in a late model Auto.
    Then when you go to the dealership and your vehicle is out of sight they send a messenger with a clip board that the AIR in your tires needs changed because it's old air, the blinker fluid is going bad (turn signal fluid) and if you sign here not allowing us to perform such items it may void any future warranties. Your cost $386.13 W/O  labor, and we see you have the extended warranty plan but these are not warranty items.
    You suspect then they are giving you a free shaft. Watch your back, do not let them catch you bent over.

    I remember when you helped a neighbor carry packages to the house. Shovel snow with out asking. Always say yes ma'am or sir.  Held the door for a lady or elderly. AN The BIG One $5.00 bricks of .22 long rifle shells

    My mule did not need gas.  He had plenty already.  Most of you don't know what a token is/was and what it was for.  Tokens were the amount of tax on your purchase.
    Coke 5c, then in 1952 the price went to 6c, a penny was not needed to tripe the lever on the machine, it was "on your honor: to put a penny in.
