Those dern blasted video boxes on web pages.

I prefer to read stories but when you go to a article that has an embedded video and scroll past it it pops up in a mini box and keeps on playing.  I HATE that thing doing it, I never watch them.  If I wanted to watch the video of some blabber mouth I would have clicked on it.

    I agree. I used to like reading the UK online paper - The Daily Mail. However with all their damn pop up videos, I gave up.

    i also agree.  it took me awhile, im a slow learner,  to figure out where the extra audio was coming from thru my speaker.  very annoying.

    And there are people who get paid staggering amounts of money to figure out precisely where to put those boxes on the page so you will do exactly that...scroll over them and make them play.  They know more about where your mouse / finger is going to go on a page than you do!  (Hint: 90+% of the time it's going to be up and down the right side of the page somewhere near the upper right hand corner.  And they use all sorts of other metrics to figure out things about where your mouse pointer might go.  For example, they know what service provider you have and what browser you use, so they can predict how much bandwidth you have.  If you don't have unlimited bandwidth and you watch U-toob videos a lot, they know your mouse will move from the upper right to the lower right (to the "skip ads" position.  So they ensure they get the product name in front of you before you have time to do this.  If the video is embedded in another app, they'll have an advert dangerously close to that button so you will accidentally click on that instead of the 'Skip Ads' button.
    It's disgusting actually, the tactics these advertisers will use...and it's everywhere.  It's behavioral analytics and it's a real thing and it's worth big money.

    I do not get pop up ads, fire fox with do not track and ad blocker plus stops them cold.  I am talking about a print article like this one:  https://www.dailywire.com/news/cafe-owner-with-history-of-helping-those-in-need-now-facing-backlash-just-because-he-voted-for-trump
    As you scroll down reading, past the hairy faced blabber mouth in the video the video of said blabber mouth moves to a small vid box on the lower rt side of the screen.  He is still blabbering away.  I have video's silenced unless I hit the sound button in the vid.  Just having its very presence is what irritates me, I do not want to listen to the blabber mouth to begin with.  I always X the video out never listening to the aforementioned blabber mouth.  I enjoy the silence of reading.  If I wanted to listen to a blabber mouth I would go talk to a woman.... :o
