Cooks needed
One of my sisters owns a bar and grill in Bloomington, Indiana. It was closed for awhile but has reopened and is doing more food business than bar business. She keeps it at 50% or less occupancy to stay in the distance guidelines though up to 75% is allowed. It has two main customer rooms, the bar area and a family area.
One issue she is having is hiring a cook. With people getting an extra $600 a week in unemployment payments she can't find anyone that wants to work. She is having to do all the cooking etc. because she can't find anyone to hire.

Shouldn't this be posted in the 'Want Ads' section?
OMG! What a blatant violation of the rules!!!
(Sure miss the green font!)
Hope she can find some help. We're kinda in the same boat but floor installers instead of cooks!0 -

Well the rules of the market would be to pay more for a cook. That would solve that problem. 0 -
I agree free markets are self correcting. However government subsidy interference negates free markets. How high a salary would it take to get someone to look past an extra 31K a year plus base unemployment.notnow said:Well the rules of the market would be to pay more for a cook. Agreed, Scout5.
It is insane to force companies to compete with a $ 600.00 federal bonus to sit on your butt. Not sure which of the pigeon brains in DC came up with this one, but it passed both houses and the pigeon brain in chief signed it.0 -
Why not ask for some guidance from our resident chef? My guess he knows a lot more about this than most of us ever will.Best.0

Good luck findinga cook right now. They are making more on unemploymnt then they will by working. A friend who owns a restaurant tried to hire one recently. Interviewed the guy on a Thursday, told he was hired and start on Monday.
Monday came and he never showed up. The joke is maybe the guy forgot which Monday to show up.0 -
Go to Home Depot and you know what to do. You'll have to pay under the table for help. I reckon Mexican and whatever it was will be the new menu. 0
