Trunk Gun
I have carried as long as i can remember legally. I always kept a weapon on me longer than i can remember. I am now thinking about putting a pistol or a folding rifle in the trunk under the carpet where a spare tire goes. Either a Kel tec 9mm or a full size pistol with extra mags. The only kel tec i own is a sub 2000 9mm with glock mags.
What would you figure would be the best gun for a back up for your back up? Im not interested in putting the gun in the car every time that i would leave the house. I would like to leave it in the trunk and check that its still there every week or so. I would put it in the trunk with the spare tire and hide it as best as i could.

The best "trunk gun" in my opinion is the accelerator. Push it down hard and go somewhere else. 12 -
Assuming your carry gun is a 9mm or there abouts, why would you want your backup gun to fire the same or similar ammo, if your carry piece couldn't get the job done with that ammo? Go with something that one shot will slam the POS to the ground, not just annoy him. 20-inch barrel, ghost ring iron sights, 12 gauge, extended mag holds 8 rounds of 2 3/4. No mag to accidentally fall out on the ground when you are under stress. Load it with alternating 00-buck and slugs, with a round of buck first in line. Don't go with 3-inch unless you like recoil. The POS won't complain. Sure, it won't fold up all cute-like behind the spare tire, but you'll figure it out. 0 -
FCD, I don't know how long ago you got your WASR but, according to the auction site there aren't any el-cheapo WASR's anymore.
Dave, I would think a pump shotgun is always a good option but there is always one of the original assault rifles! A lever action in the good old 30-30. My guess is anything you get into that a lever 30-30 can't get you out of means you are really screwed!!0 -
99% of confrontations with motorists are close-in, so make sure you have your handgun. If you need a long gun, pick up a used Mossberg 500 or Maverick 88 in the barrel length of your choice- 20 inch should be fine. Load it with #4 buck, wrap it in an old blanket and toss it into the trunk. 0 -
My truck/trunk gun is usually something I can hunt with should I be out and decide to make a short hunt or something. So usually a rifle or shotgun depending on what I may be doing, sometimes both. 0 -

I don’t leave Guns in any vehicle period. Not interested in arming some miscreant that could steal the car at anytime including in front of your house. Plus guns in a trunk can and will rust, especially where you live. If you’re absolutely set on it then I’d get a Marincoted Mossberg 500 and have it actually locked down, not just under some blanket. Guns left in cars are a bad idea. Just ask the multiple FBI agent’s and other LEO’s who’s cars have been broken into and Machine Guns taken. FBI agent’s in Fresno had to start putting special locks on the trunks of the cars because of that.

Never leave a gun in an untended car. If thieves don't get it, rust will.A few years ago, my neighbor had his car stolen from his driveway....with a HK MP5 in the trunk. Car was recovered, abandoned in the 'hood; the gun was still in the trunk.Neal
