Coors Banquet
While doing my weekly shopping I came across 30 pack of Coors for $16 before CRV and tax. I figure it's been like two decades and maybe 25 years since I last had one. It's not as flavorless as I remembered and very light on the fizz. Kind a nice. Also the cans are like old timey taller and round from the current can styles. The reason for the purchase, I'll be marathoning "Cobra Kai" since Johnny seems to live on that stuff (I wonder if they're sponsored by that show?). Anyhow I plan to drink Coors everytime I see it on the screen. I don't know if I'll be able to do that without passing out? There are two seasons after all.
So that's my Fourth of July weekend. I'll slip in "Independence Day 1 & 2" because of the day. What's y'alls plans on COVID the 4th?

Going to stay home and take it easy and hope the neighbors fireworks don't start any grass fires. So dry here that a hummingbird was attracted to the stream of water when I was watering some plants yesterday.
I haven't had a Coors in years. We used to bring it back to Michigan when we hunted out west because they didn't sell it east of the Mississippi. Way back then the cans had push in tabs for the vent and drinking holes. If you pushed to hard you could cut your thumb on the edges. That didn't seem to slow us down much though.😁 Bob0 -
After spending considerable time in Germany and the BeNeLux area, Coors beer tasted like water. Haven't drank one in years and dont plan to. 0 -
The "Banquet" Coors to me is really bad and I am not hard to please. Just something that turns on me. Course I drink full flavor Bud and Modelo. 0 -
I like Coors Banquet as a alternative to some other beers. Lately been trying some old favs like Genesse from old Woodstock festival times.... 0 -
There were only 2 things in Golden, CO. Coors- and the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Manufacturing Plant.
Guess which one was downstream?

Any of you GI's remember going to the Commisary and buying beer that came in a white can and in big bold black letters, said "Beer." Good times.
Wonder who made that?
Take that, Beer Snobs.

Most American beers are little more than fizzy water. I'm currently drinking Modelo, having just finished a pack of Pacifico. At least they have some body to them. So does PBR, almost the last US beer that does.
You have not had "formaldebooze" until you've had Thai beer or whiskey. Back in the day, an evening with that stuff would leave you nearly embalmed. - and the hangover was truly monumental.

Michelob Amber Bock dark lager is my beer of choice, actually, it's the only beer I've had for over 30 years.

My Drs. always want to know if I drink alcohol and how much. My simple answer is yes, every Friday night I have one with my pizza. That always gets a giggle of approval from them.

Back when I was a youngster my dad would occasionally bring me a couple of cases of Coors when he had been traveling out West. You would have thought the stuff was cocaine with the way kids wanted the stuff. College kids would pay $20 bucks for a six pack of it. Then they would keep the cans when they were empty and fill them up with their regular beer and parade around the beach with a can of fake Coors in their hand like it was a status symbol.
Then when they started selling the stuff in stores in the East people quit buying it.0 -
chme - That's how Coors gets the color and flavor. Mmmmm... taste the "RAD".
Flying Clay Disk - MGD don't have a drop of formaldehyde compared to San Miguel the Pilipino treat. They laugh at Oly's pasteurization. Also it gives San Miguel that complex "flavor".
KenK/84Bravo - Not commissary but I remember back in the '80s grocery store had the no brand isle. There that beer lived.
Rocky Raab - Don't know about Thai beer but had Thai whiskey. I think I seen Thai beer at Grocery Outlet. I wanna say Singh? It had a odd looking gold horse/camel/dog holding a sword? I may have to try it if it ain't too much at room temperature or maybe warmer?
Bubba Jr. - I miss Michelob "Dark".
Smitty500mag - Coors super duper marketing scheme through "Smokey And The Bandit" movie.

They long ago outlawed putting formaldehyde in Thai beers and whiskeys, or so I've read. It was sure there in '71 though. These days, Asian beers and whiskies are surprisingly good. 0 -
Got 100 feet of water line to bury. It's only 88 degrees today

Flying Clay Disk - Tsingtao I think has a image of Forbidden City? Also I have it at Chinese place when I don't have to drive. Nah it's a white label with those odd Thai critter.
As for your issue with MGD, maybe you got wheat or gluten allergy. Dude that would suck if I couldn't drink beer. Those rice beers suck. I had Hite or Orion and that big swig took me by surprise. I'm talking seriously wanting to spit that out. If the place had less people the planter would've gotten impromptu watering. Hell I even thought of puckering up my lips together so I could deposit that back in to the bottle.

Singha is the Thai beer (google search). Having not drank it I had most of the name. 0 -
Everyone is different. I can (and have in my youth of course) drank MGD all day with no bad effects. Just a half a Bud or Michelob and I swear I have a hangover. My tastes in beers have changed over the years. I have consumed a lot of PBR and Rolling Rock in the past and for some reason can no longer abide the taste. Modelo and Killians are now my go to brews and which one depends on what food I am having it with. Bob 0 -
I, too, like Modelo Negro. Does that make me racist? 0 -
Drinking Coors every time it came on "Cobra Kai" made that show more entertaining. More memorable than watching "Deadwood" with whiskey since I didn't pass out. Season 2 should finish out the 30 pack. 0 -
I drank a sihtload of it! What it lacked in taste, it made up for in quantity...KenK/84Bravo said:Any of you GI's remember going to the Commisary and buying beer that came in a white can and in big bold black letters, said "Beer." Good times.
