No need for a drill, when you have a .22
Didn't want hijack the other drill thread.
When we set up our elk camps, we put chunks of screen door screen wired on top of the stove pipes for spark arrestors to keep embers from burning holes in the canvas tents or the fly tarps covering them and some years to comply with USFS fire bans when it is dry.
Over the course of the fall the stoves burn hot then fire is allowed to die, which causes a lot of creosote build up in the screen, plugging it causing reduced draft and can lead to smoky tents and potentially dangerous sleeping conditions.
So versus the chore of taking the stovepipe down and replacing or burning the screen clean in the fire pit, we will take the 22 camp gun normally used for pine hens, grouse, and mice in the cook tent and shoot holes in the screen, opening it up to where stove can breathe again.
This procedure has startled many a dude having a nap between morning and evening hunts.
Ive even seen a few holes shot in stove pipes when a "marksman" used his 22 revolver to accomplish the task.
Makes for in camp entertainment and serves a purpose.
