Well sort of... she had her first retirement direct deposit from the state.  However.. noticed another deposit a few days ago made by them for the remainder of her contract .

    Nice good for her she put in the time it is too bad the states don't have to fully fund the promises they make.

    SC isn't out of money.

    No but they have not fully funded retirement or healthcare promises either future tax payers will be hit with that

    No concern... they will just raise taxes on the employed or federal bailout.  Seen these problems many yrs just as they complain SS is going to end...   SC announce last yr they had a surplus of money.

    Maybe someday you will get to retire... Now get back to work and pay taxes.

    It does fell like the lottery by not having to into work and getting paid.  The payout at retirement does help.  My wife got a years salary for all of her accumulated sick time, that felt like the lottery.

    She missed very few days in her career. They paid her a huge bonus at the end for doing so.

    Whether you get the old school monthly check in the mail or via direct deposit; It's referred to as the "magic mailbox."
