    I've not read what you are talking about.  However,  dust from the Sahara regularly gets up in the jet stream and is deposited in South America.   It is one of the things that drives the rain forest there.  It gets deposited other places around the planet as well.   I would suspect that with some jet stream disruptions Alabama would be on the target list.

    local news has been reporting it for a week maybe more with satellite photos , explaining how it happens 
     I guess getting old I pay more attention to the news ( well some of it )

    Does it cause problems with aircraft like volcanic ash? Can't be good sucking all that stuff through an engine. Bob

    Dust from Sahara carried by jet stream and wind currents in concert with the Coriolis factor is not rare at all and makes the most beautiful sunrise and sunset. Been happening since antiquity.  

    The politicization of Sahara dust is common now too and said to be caused by global warming.

    The Sahara dust/sand is Gypsum and even 1/10 of an inch of rain takes it out of the air.  Saw a sandstorm end in just that way in Cairo.

    I know that Florida gets that Sahara dust storm once every blue moon so I don't see why not Alabama.

    Our local weather guy is saying all over the Ohio Valley next week. Last time it was hear was just two years ago. Comes this far fairly regularly

    Those of us in Florida watch it during hurricane season, as it makes it harder for a storm to form where the Saharan air layer is flowing.
