I feel bad...
for the apostrophe. So few people care enough about it to learn its nuances, even tho it's a pretty simple fellow. I guess I feel compelled to look out for the little guy.

Folks in Hawai'i feel the same way about the okina. The spellcheck function on my computer throws a hissy fit when I am writing to my friends that live on Ni'ihau. Or the lady that lives up on North Shore of Oahu in the village of A'a'a.

My third grade teacher had one of those in her last name. Cote' it was and she being a very fine looking young French Canadian woman that put such a crush on this young boy back in the early 60's.
I have to admit that to this day I over use the ' a lot in memory of that gal and all the things I wish she would have taught me!

Me too. My folks/ancestors learned to live with feeling poorly ever since reconstruction, without support of media and megaphones, T-Shirts and such, all DESIGNED specifically to put and keep the mass majority of little guys out of sight and under the rocks on a hundred and fifty plus year guilt trip.
