Antique gun listings

Why or why do people list guns that are not pre-1899  in this area?  I see M-1 Carbines listed and others.  Can;t figure out what the reason would be?

    Buyers and sellers tend to confuse antiques with curio and relics, and vice versa.

    "Pre-1899" is simply a government lay-on, not some kind of magical upper limit of an antique gun's age agreed to by everyone involved in the collecting hobby. For example, Winchester lever actions made between 1899 and WWII are very collectable, and are often in better condition than earlier examples.

    Yep, not a GB problem, but a seller problem. You would be surprised at the number of sellers who are clueless on C&Rs and antiques. Its an 01 FFL or they will not sell. Have had on several occasions to have antiques near 150 years old sent to an FFL.

    Most of them are not clueless but rather snobbish. If you're not in the 01 club then you don't really matter. They don't like regular people being able to by pass them with a low life stinkin' 03 license.

    I know it sounds unlikely and unfortunate but there are folks who are dealer / who sell gun because it's their job or how they pay the bills - who have little or no interest in guns beyond running the store or operating the business...

    And there are many folk who are lazy or ignorant - who just can't be bothered...

    Folks who know very little about guns and may not even be pro gun or gun fans - just making that paycheck.

    And often the paperwork records and bound books are such a nightmare mess - you cannot believe how bad - like folk should be in jail bad just based on ignorance or being complacent or lazy or even just mediocre and unenthusiastic...

    Some people equate "old" with being antique. And since "old" is relative to a person's age, you can have a situation where a seller born in say 1990 is selling a gun made in 1950. To a 30 year old, 1950 is "old", so it's an "antique."
