A very smart old man told to never say anything good about a dog, a horse or a woman because
within a week, if not the same day, they will make a liar out of you!! Old Don told me this over 50 years ago. It often seems to be very true. The number of times I'll be talking with someone about my wife and mention what a wonderful woman she is and when I walk in the door at home she will be tearing me up over some real or perceived thing I did is something that has happened many times.
Recently Momma and I were talking about what a sweetheart Lola is, how she really hates being bad because of us reprimanding her makes her feel so bad. Lola is laying between us chewing on a chewy toy. Except she isn't chewing on a chewy toy, she is chewing a hole in Momma's nice rug!! First big screwup in months.
I don't know about horses but this old man was a big time racehorse trainer clear back in the 30s so I guess he ought to know.
