Speaking Of Go Fund Me
I was 28 when i got out of the military and had a wife and a daughter and about 6000 dollars. My wife could not handle military life so i got out. 10 years later we were divorced anyway but i got custody of my kid so getting out was worth it for me.
When i was 45 and married to my second wife that i have now i was diognosed with stage 4 head and neck cancer. At the time i was the lead electrician for a company making about 80 to 90 thousand a year. I was working 60 to 100+ hours a week though.
I had around 125k saved up sadly all my money was in places where if i got the money i had to take a hit like 401k and things like that.
After cancer i ended up with about 800 dollars to my name but i was alive and do not owe any money from cancer. Now i live off of about 2300 a month and i would make that in a good week but i am alive. If it was not for my saving i have no idea what we would have done with 4 kids at home. I was in bed a little over a year and it takes a year to get disability 5 or 6 surgeries plus chemo/radiation is not cheap.
I dont think i would have accepted money from anyone. However i did have friends and family help my wife while i was sick. A couple hundred hear or their comes in handy when 1 pill for chemo to help with naseau was over 1500 dollars and i still would throw up for days after chemo. I would actually sleep in the bathroom Monday night after chemo until Wednesday sometime then lay in the bed with a trashcan beside me.
I help those who i know need it or from friends of theirs who say they need it. Strangers i do not mess with.
