Duck Duck Goose always worked for me.

I absolutely LOVE it.  I do not use Google for a single thing.  Duck duck go does not track you at all, it is every bit as good as Google without the spying that the others like Google and Microshaft do.  I got it about 4 years ago and never looked back.

It works fine. If you think it's going to return similar search result to that of Google or Bing, you're going to be disappointed though.

Switched from Explorer to DDG a couple of years or so ago. Been very pleased with it, to date!
What Mr. Perfect said, however, is very true. My wife and I have done side-by-side searches on her laptops (explorer/google) and my desktop (DuckDuckGo) and gotten VERY different results from the same search entries!

Of course your search will give you different results.  DDG doesn't get paid to give "preferred" customers higher search priority.

There is that aspect of course, but the proprietary algorithms each platform uses are vastly different.

Actually DDG does have advertisers, but I have used it for years with an ad blocker.  What it does not do is follow you all over the net and try to sell you something you looked at two days ago trying to figure out what the hell it was.  Google certainly does that and tracks every key stroke you make with Google and a lot of other places they provide the search engine for like Amazon.  DDG is my home page.

I have DDG as my default search engine, and as a drop-down box in the search box, I can also use Startpage or Wikipedia. It is not often but if I don't find what I need using DDG, I'll click one or the other for a "second opinion" depending on what I was looking for.
