No, we haven't defunded education for years...

    We no longer have real education anymore, that is considering government education. We have indoctrination centers.

    Agree that the money does not get to the classroom as it should. That is one factor in the lack in student performance improvements. Administration is the problem. Highly paid Suprintendents, principals, and other staff is the problem.

    Remember when the states were pushing to have a state run lottery? “All money will go to education.” Turns out, it does, but they simply cut funding from the yearly budget to offset lottery monies.

    That sums up California's lottery quite nicely. 34% of lottery revenues go to schools, and another 50% go to prizes. The remainder- 16%, is to be spent on administration and salaries, which is a very high overhead. In any case, the schools became addicted to that lottery money and the rest played out more or less as you described...which is why you earned a "like".
