Did it again !  Reaming a hole on a battery cable when the drill got hung up .  It ripped the cable out of my hand and the cable got hung up on my middle finger and degloved the tip end of it . Took 8 stitches to put it back together

    just like my oldest boy. the emergency room had pre-printed forms with his name on them, he'd come in and they'd ask "how many stitches and where do you want them".

    All I'm gonna say is you might want to invest in a set of gloves. Or a vice. Maybe even pliers..

    I have all three , just in a hurry and didn’t use the grey matter floating around in the thing that my hat sits on

     DANG  hope it heals up fast for you
      hurts looking at it 
       as for me I have noticed in the last couple years it seems  I get hurt more  (  added a few more stitches  table saw ) lots of cuts and burns  dings and cuts  now I have a large stock of band aids and assorted antibacterial items  stocked up.  I blame it on old age  but hope maybe being more careless or complacent  I do hope  am  not slowly loosing my brain functions  like my mom, grandma ,uncles and aunts did terrible thing  to go thru 
     and slow healing does not help much  gives me longer to think about screwing up

    It'll heal quicker if you soak it in sider
    Made that suggestion to our Boss who had smashed his middle finger. Next morning one of the other guys asked how it worked.  Boss remarked "Cathy said we didn't have any CIDER". Good thing we were outside since most of the crew spewed or spilled their coffee.

    No need for stitches, you could've just wrapped it with gauze and then covered it with Duct tape............ :)

    Been there and did it again about 4 months ago. Always in a hurry. I was just going to buff a little section of tarnish off of a license plate holder with my bench buffer. As soon as I touched it to the buffing wheel it snatched it from my hands cutting every finger on my left hand. One of them pretty bad. Should have had stitches I guess but it was during flu season so I just taped it up rather than take a chance on catching the flu. It healed up just fine. If I hadn't of had a tetanus shot in the past few years I would have gone in for stitches.

    My only advise is to get and use a vise!    A hand is a terrible thing to waste!!

    Good choice to turn it over to the pro’s, that’s not repairable with super glue and duck tape.

    Hope it heals up ok for you and thanks for the reminder to not to rush’

    I'm seeing some Ambulance chasing Hot Cup of Coffee sorry axxed attorneys on TV that would take your case.
    Sue someone, the maker of the drill bit, drill, the battery cable maker.

    That has got to be someone else's fault. (modern times)

    OUCH!!  Hope you heal up quick!  That doesn't look like any fun at all!
    Just last week I managed to slam my right thumb in the car door.  Got it right on the thumbnail.  I thought we were all done slamming our fingers in the car door by about age 9, but I guess not!  Got it with the front part of the door too, up by the hinge so I really got it mashed pretty good.  Swung the door shut but realized I forgot something so I tried to grab the door  before it closed.  I was a split second too late.  <BANG!....YEEEEEOOOOOWWW!!>  Now I've got thumbnail that looks like someone painted over it with a Sharpie!

    Yep, I feel your pain.  I've had  them mashed finger and toe nails. What is also not fun is drilling a little hole in the nail yourself right after it's mashed and trying to keep the drill bit from going too deep without a drill stop or jerking the nail when the bit goes through.

    Tried the red hot pin through the nail but that is not friendly for me.  Hole through the toe or finger nail sure reduces the throbbing later for me and worth the effort.

    I keep a set of pin drills in the first aid box just to drill holes in my fingernails ! That should tell you something about how graceful I am . The healing is coming along nicely updated picture to come later
