Range report: 327 mag, 380, 9 MM, 40 S+W, 44 mag.
I first shot a Single six in 327 mag. 4 5/8" barrel. Nothing special. Accuracy was so-so. Plenty good enough for self defense under 30-40 feet but that's about all. My Blackhawk in a 327 mag was a whole different story. Much more accurate! Since the Blackhawk weighs more and has a longer barrel the loud muzzle snap/crack of the 327 mag was reduced so it was much more enjoyable to shoot. This is the Blackhawk convertible that I sent the 32 H+R cylinder to Hamilton Bowen to ream out to the 327 mag. This was money well spent! I really enjoyed shooting it.
Taurus Beretta 92 clone was excellent. I hadn't shot this before and was very pleased with it. It didn't like an aftermarket mag but zero problems with factory mags. I picked this up cheap so to have it perform well was nice. Accuracy was very reasonable and in a few rapid fire sessions it shot well.
Ruger Redhawk 44 mag, 6 inch barrel. A real downer. This is a great 44, very accurate but I found out today that my right hand (the side I had my stroke on) isn't really strong enough to handle the recoil anymore. If I concentrate I can still hit with it but between my lack of strength and some newly developing arthritis it was, politely put, uncomfortable. As I said a real downer.
I only shot one mag of 40 through a Sig SP 2022, I have 2 of these, one in 40 one in 9 MM. My son-in-law shot it and decided he wanted to become the new owner. He used the Sig 9 MM a short while back to get his CWP and liked it. Shot the 40 and liked it even more. So instead of two Sigs, now I have one Sig! I like these little Sig's a lot but I like the 9 better than the 40 so the 9 is what I got! It worked out perfectly!
The surprise of the day was another Taurus. A 380 TCP that I had not shot before. This was one of those deals where I got it cheap enough I can resell it if I choose to and make some money. It is easy to make money if you buy cheap enough!
I expected nothing from this little mouse gun but was pleasantly surprised. The sights, rudimentary as can be, shot to point of aim at about 15 feet. To me 15 feet is about what any 380 is good for if you would ever have to use it for self defense. As I said, at that distance it shot where I aimed it so I can't ask for much more. The real surprise was the recoil. I don't know why the recoil surprised me, this little TCP is the lightest pistol I have ever shot.
