HELP! Data Entry Mistake While Bidding

So I entered a number by mistake ($3,200 instead of $2,300). This was 5 days before the end of the auction (this upcoming Sunday). I have reached out to both the seller and GunBroker.com support. The seller acts like nothing can be done, which is in direct conflict with the “Retracting a Bid” article, and GunBroker.com support has yet to reply after repeatedly begging for help. What should I do??? I cannot afford to pay $900 more than I originally anticipated...

    You've done what you can do. Auction issues are not discussed in the forums  Expect this to be locked as soon as a moderator or admin sees it.

     agree you did what you could . it may come down to just not paying 
    maybe call the seller direct and explain what happened and maybe  try and help him with how to take off your bid and there is no way your going to be able to follow thru on a the chance some one discovers and pushes your bid up but  then they take the chance of passing your bid so that may not happen
     best of luck 
      also most sellers have experienced buyers remorse and may not think yous is not just a honest mistake but just a way to back out

    As stated above, Auction issues are not a part of the Gunbroker forums. Continue with your attempts to contact and open a Support Issue.

    I believe the ball is in the seller's court.  In my experience, it has been up to the seller to contact Support and ask to have a bid removed.  As a seller, I have done it a few times.

    You need to send a message to support and let them know you have asked the seller to retract your bid to what you originally meant to put in......and send the seller a message saying you have contacted GB support and explained that your high bid can only be $2300 and you will not be able to pay if it went for your mistake bid of $3200.     So, it is in the seller's best interest to have your bid fixed because if someone outbids your $2300 it can still sell for a higher amount, but there will be problems if you win it at $3200.     The seller can contact GB......which is frustrating to have to do.    

    Getting all the auctions handled, the pictures uploaded and doing all the work to just have things properly done is a lot for a seller to handle.     To come in and have to fix hiccups that aren't the seller's fault is a bit frustrating.

    I'd like to know the auction number, so I can see how it plays out.  With Autobid, a bid of $3200 is not necessarily a bid for that much.

    In the early days of Gunbroker, when few sellers used pictures, and when the site was small enough that phones were answered, I seriously overbid.  I thought I was bidding on a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol, but I was actually bidding on a Smith & Wesson 9mm magazine.  I bid something like $250 for it before I realized my mistake.  I got hold of one of the honchos, and he told me not to worry, that there was no way I would end up paying $250 for a magazine.  He said I might end up paying a little more for it than it was worth, and he even offered to pay for it for me.  NICE fella.

    As it happened, I got the mag for around $32.  I didn't need it, so I sold it to a co-worker.  All's well that ends well.
