An early morning flight to breakfast
What a God Glorious Day! Went at sun up to the airport checked the plane over and flew to Portsmouth OH for breakfast. I like their western omelettes with rye toast. You can fly right up to the door, park and go in to eat. Car traffic gets there through the front door and it was busy with many older folks enjoying breakfast with friends and family.
After a pleasurable breakfast I decided to just burn holes in the sky. Airplanes like cool dense air and flying for over an hour felt like 15 minutes. It is amazing what you can see from the air that you had no idea ever existed. The air temp at 2500 feet was about 50 so it felt great having the cabin vent open letting in the cool morning air. I never get tired of seeing what treasures are under my wings. With over 500 hours in a Cessna 172 now I can really feel what the airplane is doing and what it wants. My flying and shooting sports are the escape I have from the turmoil we see and hear about daily.
If you are ever in my neck of the woods let me know and we can fly around a bit maybe stopping for breakfast or lunch someplace.

That sounds fun, my cousin in Alaska used to do a similar thing in his Super Cub.
He would fly out of Birchwood and go to various roadhouses between there and Tok or Paxton

When I lived in Seattle, a bunch of us would fly out to nearby airports every weekend for breakfast or lunch.
Those were some fun times. The local fly-ins were a blast too. Camp out for 2 or 3 days, drink beer and see lots of really great airplanes.0 -

If I worried about things hitting me at 2500 feet, I'd never have been a FAC. bpost, if ever we get the chance to fly together, that $100 breakfast is on me. 0 -
Actually I get to Ohio fairly regular, playing poker tournaments. I may take you up on a ride, I pay for fuel and food. I haven't flown much and have never been in a plane the small.
My son's father in law lives in an airport community in Queens Creek AZ, he keeps two panes in the hanger on the back of his house. When I was there for my their wedding he offered to take me up for a fly over of Arizona. I dearly wanted to. But with the wedding and some other things happening him and his wife were busier than an ant stomping. I didn't want to take up their time so I'll have to get up with him the next time I'm out there.0 -
out before sunup to mow around house sheds and all this morn ...about 5 acres ..got it all done, mower cleaned & deck washed out , back to shed and shower by a little after 10am......harvest weather has hit and it tops out about 98-100* and windy...rest of day will be spent inside.....flying sounds like great fun.....i have been drooling for an OPENER Black Fly , a nifty ultralight class electric VTO....and disappointed when the company decided not to sell them or the Kitty Hawk Flyer and concentrate the efforts on on an electric air taxi like the E-Hang.......either would have been a hoot at the eastern kansas lake place......dad and grandad were pilots and back in the 1970's i took lessons but never finished when the farm economy took a skid.... 0 -
Hooked on flying since the early 80’s when I hit my first flight in a 150 Cessna and got to take the controls . Sadly never had the funds to get a license . Still got a chance to fly occasionally with friends who had planes . Really enjoyed it when I worked at the airport turning wrenches for a few years

I haven't done that in quite a while used to rent a plane and go get breakfast at a fly in. Lots of great people and loads of fun! 0
