USPS Customer Service...GRRR!
On April 23, I mailed this package from Wolfe City, destination San Antonio. It did not get to where it was sent. It went to Dallas, then New York, and a half-dozen other places but not San Antonio.
On June 10, I sent a complaint in via email and a nastygram to my local post office, stating that I want the package delivered or returned by June 15.
Well, on June 11, miracle of miracles, I got it back. The box was beat the heck UP. It had false, lying, CYA Postal Service stickers all over it, stating the address was deficient and it was damaged when received. Crap.
I unpacked the box and found the percussion handgun inside was undamaged. I had wrapped it with heavy duty bubble wrap, expensive stuff, but worth it.
So, I called the buyer. He still wanted the gun. I verified the "deficient" address, and found his address is EXACTLY what I had put on the box. So, I addressed the box, EXACTLY as I had the first one. The only difference is I put a sticky label over my return address, to keep the stupid scanning machines from focusing on the wrong address.
So, the second attempt is underway. We'll see how it goes. But here's the best part: I HAD TO PAY FOR POSTAGE ON THIS PACKAGE TWICE!!!
It's (almost) enough to make me go to UPS for shipping.

Maybe when the USPS is no longer operating in the red each month they will get better. (sure, really)
The USPS like to use the Covid as an excuse, it just gives them an additional excuse.
Also good luck on your next shipment and also filing any delivery complaints.
If they could charge us more money they would do better. (sure) How many times have we seen that in last few years.
We are really lucky that the USPS is not doing our email routing. (which they would like to control)

I got an apology & a lot of assistance from my lazy local PM after I sent a detailed complaint letter to the PMG in Washington. In your case, I would have thought that your local PM had the authority to re-ship it for you in a special handling body bag. But, your buyer had been waiting long enough, I would also have paid again to be sure that he got it ASAP.

So far I have had problems with all the big carriers during the last three months. FedEx in my area always sucked so for them that is nothing new but UPS and USPS seem to be having no better performance right now. The big post office distribution center in Detroit was hit hard with covid and was way understaffed. Not sure what the UPS problem is but it is probably similiar.
I hadn't mentioned it on here but Judys sister passed away at the beginning of March just before the self quarantine stuff went into effect. Three weeks ago her stimulus check showed up. Typical government efficiency since SS was was notified 2 1/2 months before of her passing. There is a box on the envelope to check and directions to drop it in the mail if this happens. Since I was picking up the mail at the post office I checked the box and dropped it in the mail box the same day. It has been three weeks and guess what showed up in the mail yesterday? Yup, the same envelope with my checkmark that I had put on three weeks earlier. Now I have to make another trip to the post office to attempt to do the right thing. 😡 Bob0 -
I USED to have good service but as you can say it has diminished a lot. Believe it or not, I sent a package and it went to JAPAN twice. Never got it back and the holster is somewhere in the world. Course, never got anywhere with USPS as it was first class and won't give me a claim. 0
