Oasis of tranquility

For the first 40 years of my life I lived in the city. I watched it go from one of the most prosperous cities in America to a literal democrat hellhole. I watched the news this morning and am thankful that for the last 25+ years I haven't had to put up with the crap that most democrat controlled cities are suffering from. 

So far this morning I have watched the deer, a blue heron and wild turkeys wander around the yard. I do hear a little gunfire but it only makes me smile because it is one of my neighbors getting a little practice in on his range. The news would have you thinking the world is about to end but there is no sign of that around here. I know I am a lucky guy when my biggest worry today is should I go shoot a round of sporting clays or mow the yard before it gets really hot the next couple of days. I hope the rest of you have it this good. Bob

    Same here.  We moved here from Northern Virginia about 6 years ago.  Love the rural setting.  Don’t miss the liberal BS a bit.

    So Ken, do you have major worries about your immediate environment? Perhaps you should look at that pond, throw a ball in the yard for buddy, think about what kind of neighbors you have and lighten up for a day. Those city problems will be there tomorrow. Take a deep breath of that country air and chill out today. Don't let the worlds aholes dominate your thoughts. They ain't worth it. I know you are prepared for the worst but take time to appreciate the best. Just my advice and it is worth every cent it costs.😊 Bob

    Going out on a limb, I think Ken's point was meant more that of lately it seems anything regarding CURRENT EVENTS regardless of how NON POLITICAL it is is being shoved into politics. I was never aware commenting on rioting was poitical

    Yeah I kind of had second thoughts after I made my post and I apologize for preaching to the choir. But hey, it is Sunday!😁 A very few on here seem to live for strife and controversy and I guess they don't feel alive or relevant unless they have something to worry/complain about. I don't think you fit in that category so I shouldn't have preached.

    I decided to be a good boy and do the mowing and took a break for lunch. At least I am outside enjoying the weather so I guess I am having a great day. Bob

    I was trying to have some fun. (Hopefully you do not think at your expense.) Poking the Bear about all the threads being moved to Politics lately. Yours seemed fairly innocuous, so I used it as an example.

    Drinking a beer, giving Buddy some love, and enjoying the view of the Mountain pond out back.

    Yes Sir. That was exactly my intent. I meant no disrespect.

    Seems the Politics thread is more active than the GD thread lately, with everything we attempt to discuss moved there.

    Not a complaint mind you.

    Just an observation.

    I agree because at times I get more grins and giggles on the politics (the dark side) forum depending on who is posting. Bob
