Dr. Retires Today
She has to go to school one last trip to give up her I.D. return the school laptop and sign out. After 32 yrs of Teaching it was a long road. From Ball State University getting her bachelors degree to South Carolina finishing the Masters and Masters 30 Degree then applying and dedication to get her National Board Certification. And after that 10 yrs of solid work on her Ph.d of Education she throws in the towel today. Several Districts want her for consultation next yr or beyond. I highly doubt with what is going on in the world she is interested. We have had several discussions on former students thru the yrs. Good and Bad but mostly bad. You could count the white children she taught in her career on one hand. Yet she never gave up trying to instruct.

Good for her my wife did it in 2013 after 35 years after taking the same track. We have talked about it many times of the change in students over the years.
She started at a very small regional school in Maine. We still talk about the biggest school fundraiser was a hunters breakfast. We used to start at 3 am cooking bacon, home fries, beans, pies and then we made eggs to order. All the hunters would come in with their guns to show each other and there never any issues.0 -
My sister just went out after 34 years. She got her ED with all the money from the no child left behind funding. Now there is no money for anything in the schools it seems. Congrats to our wife dealing with those kids and closing the deal. 0 -

My wife, also. Three decades as a special education teacher, a Masters Degree, high school principal and finally teacher of multi-handicap pre-school. That last is what did her in because it just got to be too hard to get up and down off the floor a hundred times a day dealing with disabled three- and four-year olds. She started out teaching the deaf in inner-city Chicago, and you can imagine what that was like. Quite a woman, she. 0 -
Good for her. I hope both of you enjoy your retirements. 0 -
Congrats! Hard long road and hopefully a long well deserved retirement! 0 -
Road is over, now it is our time. Rentals for sale, hopefully sold soon. 0 -

Tell her congratulations and thanks from me, SF. Sounds like she made a positive contribution to society and has earned her rest! 0
