Was I Too Hasty?
Had the snow tires (Nexen Winterguard.) taken off the front of the Nissan Versa Hatchback today.
Put my Kenda Kinetica tires back on the front. We were all laughing about how I had my snow tires on until June 5th. You can never be too carefull or safe. 😁
Snow will fly overnight. 😮
I have a modified Jeep Wrangler if it comes to that, that will go anywhere I want. (Just being facetious.)

Buddy sez, if he can not ride in it, he is not interested.
Probably his favorite thing ever is "You wanna go for a ride?" (Backflips ensue.) Too funny. Once in the vehicle, he is awesome and well behaved.
Back when I was using my car as my Winter commuter, unless it was really bad, Buddy would not have wanted to do the 66mi. round trip. (As well as waiting in the car for 8-9 hours.)
Buddy just asked me, "Who the Hell is that Hillbille Dude? What is his problem?"
I just told him you were from WVA. He just nodded his head, in understanding. (Pursed lips.)

A small little front wheel drive car driven with caution and moderation, will go just about anywhere in the wintertime, with Winter tires, unless the snow is over 6", and unplowed. The challenge was always getting out of the uphill driveway from a dead stop. After that, good to go.
If that wouldn't work, I'd jump in the Jeep. No problem there, except 66 miles round trip. (Still gets about 18-21 mpg.)
The Nissan will get 38 mpg.

I drove small front wheel drive cars in the 80s and early 90s and you are right about them being good in the snow. Even here in Michigan I had very few problems. I remember when they first became popular all of the misinformation about how different is was to drive them in bad weather. It was a wonder some people managed with the bad or confusing instructions. When someone would ask my advice, I just told them to turn the tires in the direction you wanted to go. I'm just glad to hear you thank. 😉 (But) I am really confused. I thought Matters were what you discussed when you Thunk about them in depth. Maters are good with salt.

Are Nexen Wintertrek a discontinued model? I can't seem to find any info about them. Were they studded? 0 -
Nexen Wintergaurd. (Not studded. Holes in place if you wished to go that route.) May have been discontinued. This was my second year on them. Was very pleased with them. Maybe $85-95 each. (If that.) Still look like new. Gripped really well. I have found that tires you like, get discontinued/replaced every couple years for something newer/better, more expensive.
The General Explorer tires I had on my Nissan were a perfect example. All season American made. Went with Kenda Kinetica as a replacement per my Tire dealers recomendation. Had put them on his vehicle as well as his daughters car. $254 for 4. Been very good. Would have preferred the General Explorer's being American made. Would have been twice as much for comparable tires. (Cooper, General, etc.) I specifically asked about American made tires. The previous year, the General's were competitive. (Discontinued.)
I just now went out and got my winter tires out of the back of my hatchback.

I run Nokian Hakkepelliitta studded tires in winter. I took them off in early April. This year, for the first time, I didn't need them at all.
I have a 3/4 mile long steep driveway and the studded tires are great in the snow and ice. Wonderful.

Snow??? "We don't need no stinkin studded tires." Retired people don't drive in snow. Then again, most people around here don't drive in the snow. Don't shovel it either. Just park at the end of the driveway & wait for the road to melt. 0 -

Not if I have my trusty .25 Jennings with me. All I would need to do would be shoot you in the knee and away I go.Got a great idea, Biltmore Estate has acres and acres of prime "sang" woods. You go check it out and gather a few samples and me and Allen will visit you in the gray bar hotel. Aw shucks that won't work, Buddy would be home alone.

I've been staying home most days. I tend to hang by myself anyway. The neighborhood ghost.
Ran some errands in town yesterday. Hit Hardees. 1st fast food in about 2 months easy. I inadvertently asked for something not on their menu. (A "Classic.") That seemed to throw them for a bit. Said "well your running TV ads about it for a dollar each." (More confusion.) Finally we figured out it was the returned "famous Star burger. Buy one, get one for a dollar." Too funny.

Hit the Roan Valley auction yesterday evening, seller from Ohio. Nothing of interest. May hit the one next Friday, bigggg advertisement sale. On to Poblano's and back home. Full seating by the way, all staff were wearing their bank robber outfits. Took the scenic route, up the gorge, across Bulldog, then Mountain Dale to Stone Mountain rd to Peoria and across the Guy Ford Bridge. Everything had just been fresh washed by a big thunderstorm with rain. 0 -

Never got over to the Biltmore Estates Ed. I've always wanted to visit Allen though. I can get to Asheville via Erwin, TN. Been there a couple times.
He does however, seem to have a lot of snakes on his property. Maybe I can send you out in front of me with your Jennings. 🤗 That way, I can keep an eye on you as well. Uh, Er, i mean. I am sure you are more capable "on Point," than I would be.

Know a fellow who went Rattler hunting out west, snakes everywhere he said. Guides said for the second man on path to be on high alert as they were more likely to get hit. If I am in front you better have on good lugged sole boots as it will be slippery real soon if slip upon a snake. 0 -

Come on down, Ken, this is a good place to visit.If I do come down at some point, (and I would like to.) I would want to bring my as yet unfired 1858 Confederate Navy .44 for a firing Tutorial. I'm new to this Black Powder thing. I've read up on it, but still an untried novice.
Maybe we can make that happen this summer? Maybe get Cling2myguns and Butchdog2 to join us, if you and they are willing. Would be a nice get together.
