When it comes to mixing cola with rum, nothing tastes as good as Coca Cola.

I am currently consuming my evening refreshment... 100 proof double Captain and Coke in a large beer schooner with 5 ice cubes. MMMMMM good!

currently my favorite rum. About three fingers of this with a single cube of ice makes for a really great drink

It's kind of like a dry Martini. I pour the rum over a cube, while looking at a can of cola.

Thread aside and Martini Factoid: The term "dry" martini is commonly thought to mean one with only a little bit of vermouth, but that is not correct. The ORIGINAL martini was made with equal parts gin and SWEET vermouth, with a dash of orange bitters. It soon evolved into a variation made with DRY vermouth, and thus called a dry martini. There is no such thing as an "extra dry" martini, although the ratio of gin to vermouth can be changed to fit one's tastes. The original is quite good, btw. I like it with one ounce of sweet vermouth, two ounces of gin and a dash or orange bitters over ice, stirred. Or the same, but with dry vermouth.
I do not ever countenance the upstart and distasteful vodka version.

Hmmm. Equal parts? I always thought it was gin with a dash of vermouth. I will have to give that a try someday. I’ll tell ya - you can learn some great info on these boards!

I used to drink bourbon and coke but due to the diet coke or sugar of the regular coke I switched to bourbon and a couple ice cubes, couldn't go back now.

Royal Crown Cola mixed into Crown Royal trumps all other combinations, IMO.

Mexican or Dominican recipe - with pure cane sugar and no HFC in a green tint glass twist pattern returnable deposit bottle - take from an insulated metal cooler with attached cap remover - kept at a temperature just above the point where the liquid becomes a slurry...

And you best be holding some ring size 48 or better hand rolled Cuban seed short fat stogies...

Boy, you can say that again!!
Mix something like Pepsi with rum and it's enough to make a fella wana GACK!

Try caffine free pepsi, beats coke.

Cuba Libra, had them in Cuba, and they are better here, Myers Dark beats any Cuban rum, as does Ron Potosi.  This may be the second thing we have agreed on.  Come to the next Tulsa Show, and I will buy one, or more...
