Dad is in the hospital....my daughter is beside herself with worry

Dad fell yesterday and he couldn't ever get back up once he went down.....so she called an ambulance.     He wouldn't go with them, but he did agree to let them help him into her truck so she could take him to the hospital.     She called me while on the way and told me she would update me when she got there.     They took him in, but wouldn't let her inside.    They told her they would call her to let he know if they were keeping him.    I went on down there to wait with her in my car.    Wow at the crap show you get to watch at an ER while sitting in the parking lot. 

They finally called and they did admit him.    Today they found he has cirrhosis of the liver, he is bleeding from his colon and has had three blood transfusions so far.    Its like a dam has broke and just everything is going wrong.     She asked to speak to him and they said he couldn't talk because they have him on a ventilator.      He was making such an improvement in the short time he spent with them at their house.   

She is bawling her eyes out right now just thinking that she didn't get a chance to really take care of him like she wanted.       She also is terrified that he thinks she just dropped him off and abandoned him.    I told her that he's probably very out of it and doesn't realize at all where he is or what is going on.    She said the surgeon called and said that he isn't able to do the surgery that is needed at this time, so its pretty touch and go right now.    

I told her if it makes her feel better we can tell them he would like to come to her home for his final moments and not leave this world without being with family.

    He woke up two nights ago and pulled the ventilator tube out himself.....which means he's breathing on his own now.   The plan was to start weaning him off of that yesterday, but he put is own plan into motion.    They let one person visit him yesterday so I rode up there and let Coral go in.   She said they had Lifetime network playing on his TV with some cheerleader movie going.....so she switched it to CMT where Roadhouse was playing.   He was still out of it and wanted the mitten things off of his hands.   He also wanted water, but they said no to that.    She used a swab thing to put water on his mouth and assured him that he was coming home with her as soon as he got better and he needed to do everything they were trying to make him do.   Today they did a swallow test on him and he failed.    Coral finally found out they did clamp some type of bleed that they found in his stomach, so at least we know what might be the cause of things going to crazy out of nowhere.     We hope that they keep him where he is until he is discharged because things are already in motion with the home health people through their people.   If they transfer him all of that will have to get started all over again.     She's hoping to have all the things he needs set up before he gets home.    She is excited by the idea of him being at her house soon.
