Summer is here and wearing masks will SSSUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK......
I was at Home Depot buying T5 or was it T8 bulbs? Anyways it was about 09:00-ish the temp was in the 70°F. I wonder how long it'll take for folks in the warmer states will keep the masks on outside? Personally wearing masks out side is silly as folks eating fried rice with chops sticks when there is a perfectly good spoon near by. I know a guy who does this and no it's not me. I'm all about getting the job done (putting the eats in my belly). You know the saying "mama didn't raise no fool" I suppose some mamas done did. Otherwise there wouldn't be no sayings.
Oh that reminds me the day laborers were out en mass and in masks. I suppose folks are "locked down" and binge watching home improvement shows. Would they be silly enough to bring in day labors in times of COVID?

I was at Home Depot a couple of hours ago and there wasn't but a couple of people in there wearing mask and they were employees. Where do you live at that people are all still wearing masks? In my locale I have no problems with someone not wearing a mask so long as they stay out of public places where they may transmit their asymptomatic virus to someone who may be at risk. It is beyond selfish to take the risk of transmitting what may be a fatal disease to someone elderly or with underlying health problems. I have a sister-in-law fighting cancer and is pretty much homebound. If some *hole not wearing a mask transmits the disease to my brother while he is out getting groceries or a prescription filled for her, then in turn she will contract the virus and it will be fatal. Is it hard wearing a mask? Is it only common courtesy? We shouldn't need government mandates to get us to do the right thing and protect the most vulnerable in our society. At the moment I am more concerned with the stupid and inconsiderate than I am the government. We can vote out the government idiots but the others are all around us and aren't going away. Bob 0 -

Just stay your distance from people and you don’t really need a mask. The thing is do not keep touching your face, people touch there face more trying to adjust their mask than if they don’t wear one. If I can’t avoid staying far enough away from people I will pull it up and put it over my mouth, but if they want me to wear it out side in the summer time, they can stick it were the sun doesn’t shine.

Actually I agree. He has been limiting his forays as much as possible but sometimes an emergency run is necessary. That doesn't take away from my premise that wearing a mask is common courtesy. Putting a petty inconvenience ahead of protecting the vulnerable is pretty selfish in my opinion. Guess it ain't macho to wear a mask. Panic? I don't think so. It isn't me I am worried about. If you saw a thug preying on a vulnerable senior citizen would you intervene or stand back and do nothing? Just because you can't see the virus doesn't make it any less dangerous than that thug. Ask yourself, if you would protect a senior from the thug why not the virus? Since a large percent of the infected don't even know that they have the virus are you sure you don't have it? Open the businesses, get people back to work, just wear a mask and do a bit of social distancing and this dam virus will be over with. I would hate to be so ignorant that I thought a cloth mask was going to protect me or anybody else from a virus that cannot be seen by a regular lighted microscope. First of, a healthy immune system is the best thing. To be healthy you need a few things such as a good diet, exercise, sleep, cleanliness. The immune system is directly related to "State of Mind". Depressed people get sick at a higher rate than happy people. Being in the sunshine, socializing with friends and playing sports or that type activity are HEALTHY.
Interesting enough, you, I or anybody on this planet cannot escape the reality that we have germs and virus and all sorts of little biological critters around us all the time. Problem is, if you live in a bubble, the first time you leave the bubble, you will get sick and die. War of the Worlds come to mind.
This virus will end after it runs it's course, no sooner, no later. If you don't want to be a casualty, live a healthier life. Just that simple. Not one pandemic or plague has wiped out humans yet. I'm not going to worry about the sky falling today or anytime soon. I will worry about government over reach and a restriction of MY right to live a healthy life.

Wow you sure do have your mind set that modern medicine is bunk. I suppose polio and smallpox just ran their course? Having a good immune system is important but if that immune system encounters something beyond its scope then what? There are people in this world that through no fault of their own have a compromised immune system, either permanent or temporary. Should we just disregard them and say "Oh well, it is the survival of the fittest" and they have no right to live? I am fully aware of the germs and viruses all around us and they don't worry me a lot. Bring in something new or novel and it can cause a disaster. Remember what killed more native Americans than anything else. They probably had great immune systems for their environment. Along come European diseases and their populations were decimated. I'm sure they were out in the sunshine and socializing and being with friends before that happened. So yeah the disease in their case ran its course after eliminating most of the population. BY the way it has been suggested that the War Of The Worlds was a modern interpretation of the Spaniards infecting the native South American people. Wells had to reverse who died in the story so the earth would survive. Smitty the mask isn't to protect the wearer. It is to contain the moisture droplets that you either exhale or expectorate when you cough or sneeze. It may not totally stop the escape of the virus but slows down and decreases the range that those moisture droplets can travel if they get by the mask. Did you check into the statement I made about Japan and their rates of infection? You could compare their population density to someplace like New York and wonder why their rates are so much lower. Could it be that a lot of them wore masks as a daily thing even before this outbreak. Just something to think about. There has been 8 cases in my county, zero deaths. I know two of them personally. I talked to one fella’s dad and he said his son was counted with his wife even though he had no symptoms, because he lived with her.0 -
